We don’t yet know why they keep Chic around. Does Chic know?

This is a case of “dammed if you do, and dammed if you don’t”If Chick only knew that Holly was once a “dealer” in mutant byproducts as well as a “cook”He might loose his appetite instead!I’ve been saving this Dave Clark 5 parody I wrote about 15 years ago, now is a time as good as any.

It’s dinner time againMmmmmCatfish in a canMmmmmTry to pass the ketchupMmmmmWe will yell for seconds all nightCatfish in a Can, Catfish in a Caaaaaan, Catfish in a Caaan, Catfish in a Can. Now we’ve got the runsMmmmmNo more time for fun.MmmmmYes it makes us angryBeing fed beans all of the timeCatfish in a Can, Catfish in a Caaaaaan, Catfish in a Caaan, Catfish in a Can.That’s as far as I’m willing to take it, whatever’s in that crate better not be beans..But considering the alternate…

Holly only dabbled in cheese. It was Linda who mongered eggs, and even then, they were unfertilized.I wonder if Chic is suggesting he knows Sarah is likely to leave Jim for another lizard. The eggs may have lizard pheromones on them, affecting behavior so that lizards are more likely to eat them, and be more attracted to each other. Sarah might not be able to help hooking up with Piotr, and the lizards might not be able to help accepting the eggs as food. Chic may not know the mechanism, but he may know what happens when lizards handle eggs.

Chik’s speech in the final panel supports my theory that the eggs weren’t poisoned, but instead he just believes that eating mutant-laid eggs is the same as cannibalism.

Once again, though, we see Neathery’s skill at low-profile but killer comedic writing.

By contrasting eggs with “real food”, I would guess the “real food” is more substantial. Since vegetables are probably very rare, that would mean meat in large pieces. I had guessed before that they might be raising non-reptilians for food. I am still guessing so.

They eat the eggs that are not going to grow into reptilians. So they eat, like, mammals… I think that’s why Holly will be sick.

I could be off but it sounds to me like he’s going to tell her where the eggs come from, not about his food in the chest, and that he’s afraid learning about the eggs will make her sick.

Okay, there’s something more to these eggs than them being just eggs, regardless of the source…there has to be with this kind of build-up.

Of course, I could be WAY off (wouldn’t be the first time…part of the reason I keep following this comic).

But at the very least, I want to hear the tale of these lizards from a NON bias source for once. At least in the sense it’s not obviously pro-lizard.

The light isn’t coming from the trunk, now that we can see it is from his left. It is true that rats can’t vomit, that’s why they are such picky eaters. Mice, or living as a mouse anthro like Hollly may be the same way.Even more curious about what that thing holds. besides being edible. Just being edible is a bare minimum of what food should be.

Eggs in the U.S. have to be refrigerated because they’re cleaned right after they leave the chicken. Cleaning strips them of the coating that protects them from infection, so they have to be pasteurized and kept cold. Eggs that aren’t cleaned can be kept at room temperature a long time, and are sold unrefrigerated in most of the rest of the world.
