It’s scary when one is driving in a snowstorm, and sees how many people don’t have their headlights on. I’ve coined a term for those not paying attention when they’re driving in wintry weather; ditchbait.
For our first snow (pretty minor) here in Connecticut, one of my co-workers skidded out on a curve and hit a tree. He wasn’t hurt, and there weren’t any other vehicles involved, but his car is in the shop.
Here in KS when first snow hits gets major I stay home off the roads. Bad drivers. Then I noticed if I have to go the other drivers really slowed down.
Here in Michigan some drivers prefer to play bumper cars; they get so packed up that the first brake light causes a domino affect and the one who is the slowest starts the bumper action.
We don’t get much snow in Vancouver, but black ice is a constant problem. Hit a patch of that at 100k on the freeway, and next thing you know you’re travelling in reverse, facing back the way you came.
Ah, yes, Sunny Southern California!horrible on your wallet, tho … the place has been taken over by west coast liberals, who have yet to see a tax or regulation they didn’t like

Got rear ended by a BMW one winter. The guy got out & started yelling at me for stopping at a red light in such weather.

It never fails to amaze me how life-long New Englanders can act like they don’t know how to drive in snow at the first sign of a snowflake.

I don’t get it. Snow is easy to drive in. Ice, OTOH, is a bear.
