    Aah, “The Romantic” meets “the Pragmatist”….whether to “hitch your wagon to a star”,or “keep your feet firmly planted on the ground”…sometimes, it’s hard to “train your arrow” to hit a mark “right between the two”… – Luann was having such a “beautiful dream”…and then the alarm clock rang, in the form of Bernice. It may seem like a “downer” sort of thing, but ’tis true…whether it should be an issue or not, it always seems like she and Quill keep coming back to this same scenario… – Somewhere in the room could be some dramatic “pop” (as in bubble) music… – And then, there’s the "if"… if is such an… “iffy” word….

    Well, on the positive side, at least the only ‘liquid’ that Bernice threw on Luann was verbal (unlike the water balloon from her alleged professor, the paint spilled by ‘Mr. Jock’, and the paper mache plastered on her face by her so-called boyfriend…)

    Actually this 10-Day “Intern” B/S MIGHT Not Be Such a BAD Idea. Especially if “Luann” Turns into LUANN the Whiny, Clingly, Possessive, “Why-Aren’t-You-Spending-More-Time-With-Me-All-You-Think-About-Is-Your-Career” Gal We KNOW and Occasionally Love.A LOT can happen in 10 days. Especially When Q-Ball is Surrounded All Day By Beautiful Interns that were Actually INVITED Into the Program…..,

    Wonder what mom and pop will say? Luann may be 18 and in college but she isn’t able to strike out on her own and probably doesn’t want to. Luann is still at that age where she sees the bright lights but not the dirt and grime of life.

    Luann isn’t going to New York for the work…and that’s not why Quill wants her to go…it’s for all that excercise time after the lights go out each night. It’s about time too.

    Bernice is right, and helpful to question this. She should go with them and see the sights with Luann during the day. NY is a wonderful place to hang out in during the summer when a lot of the live-ins leave.

    I like Bernice. She is the sense in common sense. Luann does not know how blessed she is to have a friend like her. She wants her to be happy, and yet for her to realize the reality that she is in at the moment.

    The program in NYC lasts for only 10 days? Then it must be intensive, with sessions all day and every night as well. (After all, the evenings are when Broadway does its real work!) Haven’t we been through this before?

    Luann is still on the difficult road to maturity. Just like the rest of us, even the gray-haired gaffers. She’s getting better, but sometimes she still thinks like a four-year-old.

    This message is specifically for Night-Gaunt49: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Night-Gaunt49 said, said 3 days ago:

    @PipeTobacco

    Some don’t look upon it as “coarse” or even “vulgar” in the way you do. The Brits have gotten over that over 30 years ago because they grew up and dumped their foolish magical thinking.++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++I waited to reply to this e-mail because I really was unsure how to take it, so I am asking for some sort of clarification. To me, it seems a bit like you are specifically taking a “jab” at ME by suggesting I should be like the “Brits” and “dump foolish magical thinking”. If that is how you meant the statements, then I ask…. what is “magical thinking” about finding giving someone the finger to be rude or impolite? Perhaps as you say the “Brits” no longer find that offensive. But, from what I read on line, they do seem to find offensive a backwards “V” sign (backwards meaning the palm faces inward). Should I tell the “Brits” that their feeling of offense at that sign is just “rubbish and magical thinking”? I really am interested in hearing what you mean by this, because at least in the way I read it right now, it still feels like you were specifically being a bit rude with your reply to me.++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++If you recall, my comment was a) that I know the giving of the finger is common, and to me it is not something overly shocking. There are some characters where this would be expected and almost “normal” such as those on “South Park”, but my point is that in the way Luann has been portrayed for the last 30 years, it seems a helluva departure, and does not seem appropriate for HER character. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++If you were specifically taking a jab at me, I do not understand why, as I was only stating my OPINION. I was not cutting down your disagreement with it.

    Again, I’m astounded how much money all these high school graduates seem to have. Gunther has no problem popping off to Peru, staying in an expensive hotel, booking a last minute flight on the most expensive day. Quill and Luann apparently have no financial worries about going across country for this internship.

    Bern (and reality) is quite a downer. But wait, there’s more!*Lu, your parents are going to require you get a job this summer if you aren’t going to school. Will Weenie World or Shop&Shop give you two weeks off for a vacation?*And BTW, the paper mache apparently did NOT take all the skin off her face!

    Dave…. what sort of “revolve around something other than an actual trip to NY” do you mean? Are you thinking the story will be about a) getting or not getting the internship, b) Luann having to talk to her parents about going, c) Luann’s over dramatization of what such a trip will be like only to fall flat, d) another situation where we find Tiffany also applying for the (in this case) Internship, or e) something else? ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++I would be eager to hear your prognostications on how this will develop.

    Quill’s 10-day internship will be non-stop work. Luann should just fly up to NYC to join him for a long weekend after it’s over, rather than going for the whole 10 days and almost never being with him.

    This is about yesterday’s “Zebo” strip:++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++I was surprised to see that the “Goth” guy had been given orange hair by the colorist (I have heard that Sunday’s are usually colored by Greg himself.). It gave him a different vibe than the black hair I was presuming he had.

    If Quill gets the internship it will be interesting to see how they handle it. Unlike what happened with Mooney (which shouldn’t have happened in the first place) it’s not like Quill can bring her with him on the internship as his assistance. Which would most likely bring yet another fit from Luann of Quill’s not spending enough time with me.

    Exactly! Nothing like being in a compromising position and instead of getting help from your boyfriend he’s taking pictures. I mean really, we’re lucky we didn’t get a “Quill posts pictures on social media, Luann gets bullied” plot.

    @Mordock:

    “I Doubt That. Meeting and falling for a Guy From New York would be another Long Distance Relationship like the one with Q-Ball SHOULD Have Been.”^Yes, but don’t forget that it doesn’t have to mean that they would find some permanent relationship there. All it could (potentially) take, story wise, is just finding that they have the ability to find feelings for another,even temporary ones, and not exclusively for each other (or even if it doesn’t really happen, they could still perceive that the other has that possibility, whether real or just imagined, thereby calling their feelings into question)…

    One other thing, Night-Gaunt…. I do not believe there are “bad words”, but I do think there are impolite words that are better avoided by most folks, regardless of what George Carlin may have thought. :)

    Luann is the least sexy female in this strip. It will be 10 days of verbal ping pong, unless Tiffany shows up. I still can’t believe that Gunther and Rosa spent months together in Peru and nothing happened. That was a real let down after such a build up. I fear that Greg just wasn’t ready to take his kids out of the high school world.
