If a cartoonist is denied his or her right to express an opinion, I am being denied MY right to see that opinion! If “B” thinks that “A’s” viewpoint is wrong, “B” should say why he or she thinks “A” is wrong instead of trying to deny “A’s” freedom of expression!

being offended is a choice, no one can ‘make’ anyone else offended. Everyone makes a conscience decision at some point that if a certain situation arises they’ll be offended. A classic example is the driver that thinks if I get cut off one more time I’m going to get mad (offended) follow that person around and honk at them. They then act like they had no choice when in reality they did.

Same concept for anything one might get offended for, someone may not make the choice in the moment but they likely pre-made it in the past.

@puggles wrote: “One difference between Allah and Yahweh—Allah teaches to kill your enemies and Yahweh teaches to love your enemies. Another—Allah teaches to make converts at the point of a sword and Yahweh teaches to reason with people.”.Laugh. Wow. Astounding selectivity. Might want to read the bible. Wherein Yahweh orders (or carries out himself) the massacre of tens of thousands of innocents – who are declared as “enemies” or who do not “convert”. Cherry-picking scripture is fun.

Sad that the first commenter has to try & make it political. Interestingly ‘Fundamentalist’ is used without any modifiers. I suppose it could be applied to radical women’s rights groups who came up with the idea of ‘trigger warnings’ & complain about inappropriate jokes from comedians who perform at their college.

Perhaps Fundamentalist could be applied to those who get people fired from their jobs because they made a donation to a group who opposed gay marriage. These people appear to believe that those who have different views must be punished. I guess some types of diversity aren’t to be tolerated.

You obviously have a lot of hatred, and I am sorry for you for that. You are taking all of what you are saying out of context. Until you are willing to look at the bible in historic context and realize that God is God, you won’t understand. With all that hatred, your heart must really hurt. I will pray for you, even if you do hate me.

You know, one of the very interesting things about militant atheists is that they insist on a literal interpretation of scripture…in other words, they are fundamentalists. Only ones without understanding – "Hear this, you foolish and senseless people, who have eyes but do not see, who have ears but do not hear.”

My apologies. I will suggest to you, however, that the existence of contradictions in the Hebrew bible are not to be taken in the same way that modern Westerners take them. As I understand it, the Hebrews embraced contradiction – certainly a prescientific approach. If there were two (or more) views about things, the Hebrews recorded them all. I tend to approach the Hebrew bible as a compendium of arguments among the Hebrews about God, and in some cases, an argument between the Hebrews & God about God. (Consider Job.) So in a way, Puggles is right – there are no contradictions in the Hebrew bible, in large part because to take it as some kind of logical presentation of facts & arguments is to miss the point. Or, to put it another way, what the modern mind sees as “contradictions” ARE the point.

As a long time Gamergate supporter I’ve come to the terrible realization that I identify as an invisiblekin. It started out as a measure of anonymity to both protect my identity and remain the only way to safely exercise my First Amendment rights in this country but it became something more…I realized I had finally discovered who I truly was. No one.

A randomized post here, a throwaway login there. I thought I was in control, I thought I could stop. Now instead of porn I huff invisible ink while browsing Garfield Minus Garfield and a bit of Casper the Friendly Ghost on the side.

I’m truly hurt by this trivialization of my and my fellow invisiblekin’s lived experiences and will be penning the editor a handwritten letter that must be held up to a lightbulb for 30 seconds.
