Those horoscopes are so one-size-fits-all. At least the ones in the papers. I recently read the Scorpio message to my Leo friend, and it fit her to a T. As would any of the others.

I’d guess that most people 30-35 and over do, because reruns.

GLITZ magazine is, I suppose, age-appropriate for Luann. In any case, it provided her a chance to show her rarely displayed sense of humor. Good show!

I’m 32 and familiar with Shags’ reference.

Regarding horoscopes, I fail to see how giant balls of gas out in space have anything to do with one’s future and fortune…

…What’s the sagittarius listing say? :D

Thanks for sliming me by suggesting that I hate people younger and older than I am

Where does legal say you hate people younger and older than you? I don’t see it.

I like the innocence of this strip so the comments are getting kind of hateful, but there are some good ones. I know the reference and have watched Jackie Gleason and loved the show . Yes we are all getting up in years and us older ones need to set examples for the younger ones following us.

Now what if there was really a Horoscope that read “Too much prudence could have an effect on an important relationship.”That would take this story on a different arc.

They are such good friends!! Greg has this relationship just right. Lets face it, for some of the more clueless comments here; if you can’t tease your friend and he or she tease you back and ALWAYS love you no matter what, then what are friends for? Also Luann is grounded in reality; a lot of us, me included like to play around with horoscopes (I used to be able to do people’s charts but I can’t find the book anymore) but know that its, as Luann says “just for fun.” This is an AWESOME universe we live in, so having some harmless fun with it is soooo human.

Of course, “The Honeymooners” was revived from time to time in subsequent Jackie Gleason TV series (some of them with Sheila MacRae as Alice and Jane Kean as Trixie), and there have been modern-day movie adaptations (including one with an all-black cast!). So people who never saw the original 1951-1956 broadcasts are likely nevertheless to be familiar with the references to Ralph’s catchphrases.

I’m dropping this strip from my email. Don’t care about this near-perfect character that the cartoonist has turned Luann into. Don’t care about college-age angst; at least junior high and high school angst can be funny. College-age angst is just tedious and self-indulgent.

Back in the early 50’s? Who knows? Besides, on early TV you would spend half the time watching a “test pattern” while they tried to figure out how to get the signal back.

Watching the big black bar at the bottom of the picture roll from the bottom of the screen to the top as you adjusted the vertical hold knob. Then it was time to re-orient the rabbit ears…

I remember setting the fine tuning dial to middle on the channel turret switch. Then we would go to each TV channel and tune the channel fine tuning slug so we didn’t have to fine tune every channel when we switched channels. When we first got a remote control, it used sound to cause a motor to drive a chain to switch the channel manually.

    People don’t say “OHMYGAW”

Either say “OMG” or “OH MY GOD” or don’t bother saying anything… “OHMYGAW” is just stupid.
