At least this lot seems to realize thereâs a difference between âPresidentâ and âEmperorâ. Iâm not sure that the same is true of the gaggle of talkers running for President in the Real WorldâŠ

I may be slow catching the joke, or the names could just be coincidence, but Flo & Eddie? Is Wiley a fan of the Turtles &/or Mothers of Invention?
Gerald Henley over 9 years ago
@dtroutma
Tell that to Obama, his phone and his pen. He is supposed to enforce all laws not just those he agrees with and he cannot change laws unilaterally. Obama is the clown who thinks he is emporor.

Can they still have the Greek Columns and the reverb when they give electioneering speeches?

No, I donât think that President Pajama thinks he is Emperor.
I think he sees himself as Lincoln, when he functioned as the Tyrant.
Hardthought over 9 years ago
Somebody should have told Barack that. Then he might not have (I emphasize âmightâ) seen fit to alter or negate laws without Congressional action.
Nah, he would still have done it.

And⊠as of 6:32am CDT, the number of commenters who donât understand the Constitutional definition of presidential power (heâs not a king, but he also doesnât need congressâs permission to use the bathroom) stands at three. Check in throughout the day to see how it rises!

Exactly, you will not be able to get with all the things Obama has

Flo does a good job of confronting the âgimme crowdâ, but too bad that guy was interrupted. âIâm gonna make. . ." It would have been interesting what he was saying; or rather demanding.

I do believe Iâm done with Non Sequitur until after the election. See you all again in December 2016. Youâll still probably be arguing the same idiotic points.

What? Wait⊠the president isnât an emperor??? Well, then, might as well suspend my campaign.

the presidency is really more of a figurehead these days than any real power. doseânt matter which one is in office,

The one thing presidential candidates have in common with emperors is that they are frequently revealed to have no clothes.

Obviously you donât live in Illinois, where the new governor has accomplished absolutely nothing & is at war with the legislature.

Theyâre only following the example of the current president/emperor.

Why is it the people that always fain objections so grievous that they will never return to a forum/thread, always return? Wouldnât it be more truthful to say, âI donât agree with this.â and leave it at that? Could make a drinking game of it. Drink a shot for every post made after the declaration a member makes about not returning until after the election or ever. However, it is likely the bottle will empty quickly, so please drink responsibly.

KveldulfSimplistic, but a lot closer to reality than most of the posts from south of the line are.

If you are referring to Walker, I am happy to see he is WAY down in the polls now.

Not quite the same thing, aside from letters to a company will not likely change the product or the way the company does business, no more then âI wonât read your comic strip anymoreâ posts will influence how Mr Wiley continues with his stories. In business it would not be a stretch to guess most letters like that get passed around, laughed at, and they laugh as they send you some coupons and if you are lucky, perhaps a freebie or two. With which you start buying products that you said you were never going to buy again.
As for me, the only thing I really notice from people that post Iâm leaving, blah, blah, blah, is those are people that tend to not only have no problem lying, but donât even recognize when they are lying.
kaffekup over 9 years ago
The presidentâs main power is appointing SC justices; that can have reverberations for decades.
Kaputnik over 9 years ago
Iâm evidently quite a bit to the right of Wiley, politically, but the basic point here is something we can agree on. Iâd love to hear a candidate, regardless of his âprogramâ and basic political orientation, say âof course I understand the constitutional limits on the power of the executive branch, and will scrupulously respect those limits.â It wouldnât hurt the legislative and judicial branches to take note either, particularly the latter.Of course, once a candidate knows what a large number of voters want to hear, heâll say it. A candidate who said this and meant it would be really special.

Letâs face it. Obama NEVER wanted to be president. He ALWAYS wanted to be Emperor!
Dtroutma over 9 years ago
Quiet Dragon: The interesting part of âsigning statementsâ is that âWâ was the first to use them constantly not to clarify the Exectutive review of the laws, but rather to nullify large sections, or the entirety of those lawsâ intent and purpose. Iâve read said statements over the years, and the Cheney/Bush documents DO secure the intent of the âunitary Executiveâ with no intent to either implement or follow the laws passed by Congress.
Timothy Madigan Premium Member over 9 years ago
Well, if you get a rabble like Reidâs and Pelosiâs crowd behind you in office, you can act like an emperor for 4-8 years.

âCongress is where the laws go to live or die, pres. signs them into that law.âInteresting, so the president serves the same purpose as the Queen of England. Does he open shopping malls too?

This is how fusion seems to work. Each molecule has its own circle of sacred cows, and those interact and oppose the sacred cows of other molecules. Under great pressure, the actions of the sacred cows is converted to heat and radiated away. Once the pressure becomes undeniable, the sacred cows are lost, suppressed to silence by their obvious frivolity, and the core issues become a common issue. New sacred cows are corralled and a new equilibrium established, based on a heavier, (some say denser), molecular core with more sacred cows than either alone. The waste from the original two issues is wholly rejected and discarded as radiant energies, along with any responsibility that may attend it.What an elegant and robust system. It will continue on as long as their are little people to be crushed by the burden of the collective, and collectives to crush them.

One of the things I find most interesting is that the only thing the âConservativesâ ever seem to want to âConserveâ is the Corporationsâ ability to poison our Drinking Water, Pollute our Air, dump Toxic Waste in our backyards, steal our National Parks and sell us poisonous Food. .And, when anyone complains that this might be a bunch of Really Bad Ideas, they accuse that person of âHating America & American Freedomâ..When did wanting to Conserve the Good & Beautiful things in the world become BAD to âConservativesâ?.
