Just read Mutt and Jeff looked alright to me… Will miss him if he is really gone from strip…..been reading them since I was 7 my grandfather got me hooked on them, Nice to see a comic strip that ages with the passing for time…..
Since Dick Tracy is also in black & white, I think we have a multi-crossover in the making. The Gasoline Alley story is already a crossover with Mutt and Jeff. And, we will soon find out that Jeff has been murdered by one of the thugs in the Dick Tracy story.
If all this pans out, rememberYou read it first here, folks!
I like David’s idea…. a triple cross-over. And, I suspect that Jeff is “presumed” dead at the hands of some nefarious character… but he will turn out fine in the end.
I like to see Walt Wallet team up with recent years retired comic strip characters like Charlie Brown and Snoopy (Peanuts), Cathy (Cathy), the Patterson family (For Better or For Worse), and maybe Bucky Cat (Get Fuzzy – if the strip ceases for good after a few years of daily rerun mode/first run Sunbday mode) and the Doonesbury cast (same reason for Get Fuzzy). But I guess the Stone Soup cast doesn’t count…
As I recall there was a Dick Tracy/GA crossover a few years back. The details are fuzzy, but as others observed the current DT strip has taken a rather surreal turn.

Interesting how Mutts mustache seems to grow from his nose instead of his lip.

So now it’s just “Mutt and…” ? How sad.

Unlike Gasoline Alley, characters in other comics do not age and die. Also, what happened to the color?

Nice to see Mutt. I haven’t seen him in eons, so it seems.

Mutt and Jeff ceased years ago. GoComics is rerunning Mutt and Jeff, with color added.

Oh, No. Mutt & Jeff were favorites of mine. Is his twin brother Julius still alive?

In the current “Dick Tracy” arc, the good guys and bad guys have traded places, so it could be Tracy himself that killed Jeff!
