Show or NY? Another impediment to the relationship.

Boy, the apple on Quillâs shirt may start to turn a bit brownâŠand might as well have a worm eating through it, once Luann finds outâŠ

Quillâs girlfriendâs parents are really putting him on the spot.

It could be worse â they could decide to open the warehouse with a gallery show of more art from Zebuâs class.

If Quill says no to either one, itâll make him look bad between either Luann or her parents?

Weâve never met Quillâs very lenient parents. I wish that would happen. They must be strange.
Airman over 9 years ago
âWell, gee, folks, I was planning on taking your daughter to New York for street food and sex during our break.â Iâm starting to need mental galoshes just to wade through these story lines. Itâs turning into a soap opera.

The fake scars Quill is using are nothing compared to those he will get from Luann
Pointspread over 9 years ago
Quill has a commitment to take Luann to NYC, he should tell her parents no thank you.
SactoSylvia over 9 years ago
Notice that Quillâs first thoughts are of Luann â âDear Prudenceâ is nowhere in that picture! Theyâll figure this one out.

Interesting dramatic conflict developing here. NYC with Luann? NYC with Luann and Pru? Or Pitts, to please Luannâs parents?Quill has some thinking to doâŠ.
nufalready over 9 years ago
This looks intentional on the parents part.

Itâs coming up on Halloween. They should book bands like Back For Blood, Misfits, Doyle, Alice Cooper and especially Gorgoroth
sparrowcat over 9 years ago
Shouldnât they leave this all to Mr. Gray? That would let Quill off the hook. They could have Vegas showgirls & an Elvis impersonator. Maybe Wayne Newton could make an appearanceâŠ.

Surely Luann is listening to all this from the other room!

You say DeGrooto and I say New Yorko. Letâs call the whole thing off!
Outsideplaying over 9 years ago
Why not do both? He could still do the play & take Luann to NYC later in the break, and be the hero. Plus Luann might be totally onboard and help with the sets & staging, which is totally in her wheelhouse.
JimT8 over 9 years ago
âOh, and Luann will get to play Eleanor.â.Not sure about that, but she does have acting experience, and there is no reason why Quill could not cast her for an independent show.
TheLiam over 9 years ago
So really and truly the DeGroots are just flying by the seat of their pants, didnât really make any plans for the warehouse, just kind of wait and see what happens.
That being said Quill came back to do theater, this is a good opportunity for him. Oh wait! Special Snowflake may get upset. Who cares if it would help his career in the long run, Luann comes first.

Yeah, whip up a show â youâve got a whole month and a half.

Fire⊠Good⊠!
Iâm sure Mr. Gray could arrange that too.

He already has plans! whys it a big deal? just say so.

Uh-oh! Guess the parents donât know about those plans.
Argy.Bargy2 over 9 years ago
-Quill had a balance? ⊠Heâs still around a lot, but that isnât good enough for Luann, as she wants him around all the time
This is something I feel strongly about, because of my own family experience. And the instances weâve seen of Quillâs decision making remind me too much of my familyâs experience.
My father died at the age of 40, and I can remember some of our time together, before he got so heavily involved in trying to make his business a success that he wasnât around when we were awake. But my younger brother has no memories of him.
My bro and I were lucky that our young, widowed Mom, after working for a few years, met and married the guy who became our step father, but was truly a Dad. He had a business, too, but managed to get home most nights to either eat dinner with us, or at least check our homework before we went to sleep. And he was a big part of our weekends, too.
I sincerely doubt that my late Mom ever had to ask him to find a time to âmake outâ, as Luann did when Quill was lecturing her about how important it was to do whatever he was doing.
Iâm glad my brother had a good example of what a Dad can be to kids, because he showed that in his life with his three kids. But it always makes me feel sad that he had no memory of our father. And his kids â our fatherâs grandkids â as a result can only think of our Step Dad when they think âGrandpaâ.
And that is a loss, believe me.

Dave⊠Tony might fit the âpseudo-mafia-esqueâ nature of Mr. Grayâs character, but do you think he would be the kind of draw that Pitt, CA needs⊠or that âThe Fuseâ needs? I am not so sure. I know! Mr. Gray should arrange for David Cassidy (Partridge Family)!!!! That way he would be drawing in all the young folks!!!!! (this is an attempt at humor :) )But, seriously, what is your take on what would be a good event for Quill to produce? Would you say a play, a musical, a concert, a film screening, or something else? I am not really sure what I think WOULD fly in âThe Fuseâsâ venue. And, if the holidays definitely mean ChristmasâŠ. I guess that could mean a âChristmasyâ show of some sort, but still unsure of the route to proceed.

The Fuse is lit. Stand back for the detonation. It wonât be pretty.

DaveâŠ. I agreeâŠ. Tony has been making the rounds. But, I still think that the average Pitt teen/young adult will have little to no knowledge of Mr. Bennett. But, I guess perhaps this would be a kind of fun entry for a bunch of celebrity guests in Luann. The Simpsons do it regularly, with aplomb. Might be harder to get a celeb to go for this with their voice not being used, though.

Canât do it, Iâll be sleeping with your daughter in NYC.
RSH over 9 years ago
I donât see why Quill couldnât do both. A winter break can be at least two weeks, maybe a month. They canât afford to be in NYC for more than a few days anyway. Start planning the show, then takes a couple days off to go to NYC.. then come back and do the show.

Iâm sorry, but this story line is a plodding blob. It lacks a crispness, and Quill is the dullest character on two feet.

I was actually being a little bit facetious thereâ-thinking about classic, old Las Vegas. I canât say that I especially want to see Wayne Newton, but an Elvis impersonator might be fun. The point being is that Mr. Gray could probably handle the big opening night just as easily as he did the repairs.
