And . . . just like opening all the ‘Goodies’ that Santa brought … can’t wait much longer to see the NEW Villain that ‘kicks off’ 2016 - for Tracy ! ?
I’m going to bet - it’s a Winner !
One that Mike and Joe have been ‘honing’ and ‘nursing’ for awhile ! Fully conscious, that – ‘NEW FACES’ matter !And that every journey has an END. They can’t “flog” the same pack horses year in, and year out !!.
2015 was not a particularly ‘innovative’ year for Team Tracy, the only face that really “Stopped the Clock” was T- Bolt, but sadly, she couldn’t really ‘count’, She was not an Original foe, just a fearsome “disguise” for Lee Ebony !<p.No wish to sound too critical on a Christmas Day . . . but, it was a year dominated by returning (re-cycled ?) faces from the past. One where B-B Eyes and Doubleup. did ‘QUINTUPLETS’, by “appearing” - 5 Consecutive Years in a row !.‘Face Time’ Awards !Makes you think, Lex Luthor and The Joker (in other strips) might be ‘jealous’ - of that ‘generous’ degree of attention ?
To end on a positive note I’m going to Guess that 2016 will be a ‘Creative’ Year we will all remember !
Dick Tracy sat alone and reflected on the choices and chances made and taken during his life in police work. He recalled the days when when busting a crime ring was just a matter of leaning on a weak member until he cracked and spilled the beans on his pals. Sure the methods were crude, but the thoughts of some worthless punk sweating before the bright lights and shaking with fear for the sting of the rubber hose caused the old detective to sigh with contentment. Not for long though, for the daily clouds of confusion were rolling in and too soon Tracy was back in the city where lack of logic was king; where laws of science were broken every day and most of the criminals seemed to come from the winter quarters of the side show freaks and danger lurked in the malignant streets and Tracy felt uneasy and wondered if this might be the seed of fear? In a flash, Tracy was back in his favorite chair. The air was fresh, the grass green, and the crystal waters of the gulf flashed like diamonds in the afternoon sun. It was Christmas Day and though there were many activities planed for patients and staff, Dick Tracy decided to roll over to the cop shop and shoot the breeze with his new pals; the young men and women who seemed to enjoy chatting with the famous detective, but as Tracy rolled up to the door a sign had been placed: Hospital Security Office Closed for Christmas. Tracy sat for a spell and waited.
Last year was ridiculous — not a single thaw or anything like it till after April Fools Day. It really blew the city snow-clearing budget. The weather so far this year should make up for it.
Gweedo cautioned,Don’t tell Mole he is only getting cast off goods. He might feel very insulted and return to a life of crime with a vengeance !-———————————————————————-.Cast off goods? Pan Coated Chocolate Disks (aka M&Ms), dried apricots, two packs of Tarryton ciggys? You call those cast off?
A late Merry Christmas to everyone in Tracy land. Nice to see things are wrapping up quietly. I would guess we are starting a new adventure tomorrow. Still wish we’d get some confirmation of what happened to all the characters at the end of the Blackhearts story. I think most of them are still alive because if they intended to kill them off they would’ve said so. Otherwise they’d be in limbo forever.
