The snowplow drivers around here are kind of sadisticā¦.They wait ātill youāve shoveled your driveway, have gone back inside, settled down with a hot buttered rum, feet up, warm, watching the game and ārrrrrrrrrā¦.. scrrraaape, foomph, rrrrrā¦ scrraapeā¦ poof!!!!ā as the driver, cackling, blows through the flying snow and fills your driveway againā¦.zooming all the wayā¦ā¦ā¦Kinda makes me jealous of his job!ā¦..
Many years ago, Bridgeport, CT, had a mayor named Jasper McLeavy. He was a Socialist. When the snow began to pile up and people were demanding he do something, his response was, āGod put it there. Let God take it away.āHe has risen to the status of legend, and is honored to this day with McLeavy Hall in the center of the city.
In a nearby town they push the snow on main street into the middle, leaving parking places and sidewalk access clear. Eventually a loader and dump trucks carry it away.
Main street in our town is a state highway and the state plow drivers push it as far onto the sidewalks as they can, where it sets up like cement.
worse when the snow plow piles it in the middle of the street, and you have to get to the other lane, before the city snow blower comes along and puts it into a dump truck
Thatās about it in town. By my house, I usually get my driveway done before the plows come by, so I clear the road in front of my house. That way when the plows go by they pretty much run out of snow by the time they pass my driveway. I find it annoying when people plow or snow blow their driveway snow into the road, especially after itās been cleared. Besides being illegal most places, itās just rude. Although, it can be funny, when the plows just plow it back in front of the driveway. Not on purpose, just thatās where itās largely going to end up again. Duh. The plows really have no control over the physics of clearing the road and where the snow goes. OK, Iām sure some of the snow plowers probably enjoy blocking driveways more then they should. ;)
Ever notice, many of the people that complain the most about a city not clearing the snow well enough, etcā¦, are often the same people that complain their taxes are too high?BTWThis is a general comment, not directed at anyone here, unless you find the shoe comfortable.
Iām a Home Health Aide. When thereās a lot of snow, they take the snow from half the street and make a big pile in my clientās handicapped space. Beaver Meadows (really) PA.
When I was a kid in Rochester NY, one winter we drove past a plow sitting at the end of someoneās driveway, raising up the side blade and dropping on the mound of snow he had plowed at the end of the driveway, over and over again, packing it down. Must have been some feud.
Iām just happy if they show upā¦.especially the county trucks to salt the freeways. Last 2 winters we have had a real problemā¦this year, they are doing pretty goodā¦.but weāve only had a tiny amount of snow so far.

In many communities, they will actually fine you for hucking the snow from your driveway back out into the street.

I notice the snowplow oh-so-carefully avoided burying the parking meters.

That looks just like all of Chicago after a storm. The city never does anything to fix it & neither do the building owners.

I HATE snow. Pretty for about 15 minutes, a pain in the ass for the better part of a week.

Well, now we know how to keep Canadians out. Maybe the Donald can figure out a way to move this to the other border.
