Probably the living room, so Ethel is either under the couch or a chair. Odds are that she’s turned into one of the following: a puppy, a cat, a mouse or a snake. She’s not lisping, panting or hissing. My money is that she’s a koala.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that, in a panic to try to destroy the mutagen, they used Amesworth Radiation bombs, but the radiation only fed the mutagen (a-la The Andromeda Strain) instead of destroying it.
I would guess Ethel has mutated, and is under the bed. Cockroaches hide under beds. We haven’t seen bug anthros yet, unless that is the dittos, but I don’t think dittos were bugs. The dittos may have been social insects, like bees or ants, with a hive mind, but somehow I just don’t think they were.
When we 1st saw Holly she had bigger ears, I’m wondering if her ear will be bigger after the mutation sets in. maybe they change a bit as the mutation progresses. Ethel could be in the next room or behind the sofa.if there is a table with a tablecloth, she could be under it, or wrapped herself in a blanket. Or is behind the door. She doesn’t have to be real small.
First congratulations Aaron for the nomination. Second I’m not sure what she’s hiding under/behind. My best guess is a table and she’s looking behind a table leg in that last panel but it just doesn’t look like a table cloth to me. All I can say is I’m glad this isn’t Friday, I couldn’t wait that long to see what happens.
There has been some speculation among the strip’s more artistic fans as to what the mutated Ethel looks like. The general assumption seems to be some kind of rodent. It should be noted that I have not drawn any of these pictures and do not have the talent to draw in perspective.
Under the couch (or whatever) or behind the couch (or whatever). Phone on the floor because Ethel couldn’t pick it up? Most anthros still have hands of some kind. Can’t really think of many that haven’t…The Oracle, Irving…there was the crab that saved Wally from drowning. So, either Ethel has no hands, or has hands but is too small to use the phone. If she’s that small, could she have knocked the phone over? What would a mixed human/ameoba anthro be like? :-)
Calling Doctor Chase…….his prognosis….just another case of INDUSTRIAL DISEASE!!!!!!!!!!Congrats on the nom…….heavens know you deserve it.Sasha…..if you are a Patreon you get these little perks from the author. I have received a pile of story boards of original art…..you can see the pencil as he transitions over to ink then makes small changes before it becomes the work we see including the dialogue many times written in his hand before going to the lettering we see.All original.
I wonder who’s seeing Ethel’s viewpoint, and if it’s to show how someone else would see Holly’s actions, justifiable or not. Holly might have panicked and stomped Ethel to death, or not, and now she might be about to see how this meeting was for Ethel.
I’ve wondered why parts of the room are blacked out? !st panel being darl at the top, but why?And then again at the 4th. Is this on purpose? To show that something is hidden?
For those who don’t know, the Oracle was a major character back in Endtown. And Oscar is a crab. I think both of these are examples of folks that would have difficulty picking up and using a phone handset.

This is really freaking me out. Neathery’s panel compositions are worthy of Hitchcock.

Holly the woman is really looking like Holly the mouse in panel 3.

And of course, the elephant in the room is… obviously not an elephant.

I got 10 cans of beans that she’s a cockroach. It would be Kafka-esque.

Endtown has made the short list for voting in the Ursa Major Awards, in the category of Best Graphic Story. Congratulations, Aaron.

Really not complaining here, but wouldn’t it be great if Endtown went back to 5 day a week strips?

As Ethel awoke one morning from uneasy dreams, she found herself transformed in her bed into… a banana slug.

Theory: Holly brings the mutated Ethel home with her…and forgets about the BuddiBombs, which go off and ruin everybody’s day.

Bad news, everybody. I predict all we are going to see Friday is Holly’s reaction and it won’t be until Monday before we see Ethel.

You can be shure that our mutant is automatic bombed by their own practical baby shower gift before there is too much confusion.
