Well, the only time I met Stephan was in 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq, and he was wearing his cap frontwards. I think he draws it backwards in the strip because it would be hard to draw it frontwards and still see his face. But that is just one old man’s opinion.

Stephen looks better than I had expected. Looks almost not exceptionally depraved….

This is the one strip that gives me my best laugh for the day. Stephan has a great sense of humor.

It was better before Pastis put a Pastis in so many of his strips, I think. Perhaps he should come up with new characters.

Self-referential cartoons? Again and again? What other cartoonist does that? Nobody. Why? Because it’s lame.

I’m beginning to think Stephan is emerging as one of the funniest characters in the comics page.

Anyone else think Stephan Pastis looks a little Robert Downey Jr.-ish?

oh no. now pastis will just take pictures of rats and goats and pigs etc. and scan them into the strip with little word bubbles so he doesn’t have to draw so much :[]

As Cartoon-Boy slips deeper and deeper into self-admiration, the symptoms of megalomonomania become clearer. It is probably too late for an intervention. Reserve a padded cell in Arkham Asylum….

Y’know, as many times as Pastis has drawn himself into this strip, it never occurred to me to do a Google Image search to see the real him. Thanks, Stephan! Not a bad series of renderings, either.
