I saw a script for a sitcom where a Korean War veteran had been frozen solid. When thawed out, he still looked like a 30-something and behaved like a “50s dad”. One of the jokes would be if he would ever be able to remarry as girls today have very different ideas of love and relationships, or his old-fashioned ways might win over a jaded woman.
Annie has no marketable skills and several young children, including the baby recently born with the extra finger who is obviously not in school. When they are older and she doesn’t need to arrange for child care she may take a job that takes into account her lack of education and work experience and skills related to managing a house. At this age her children are benefitted by having their father’s income pay for food, clothing, and shelter rather than possibly leave a neighborhood that is middle class and has adults who help with the kids and the children’s friends in order to live on alimony and child support (if he bothered to send checks) and pay for childcare so that she could get an entry-level job.
It depends on whether she’s being held responsible for keeping the marriage alive with no cooperation from the husband and how much responsibility HE takes in the marriage and parenting. Most women come to think of their husbands as just another kid in the household that they’re responsible for and that pretty much kills the desire on the female’s part…
@Nightgaunt49. At the risk of sounding obnoxious, you may want to use some more punctuation in YOUR critique ofEuroamerican’s comment,on Kriss Bennett’s faux pas. In the use of the word your as opposed to you are,or you’re.I couldn’t make heads, nor tails of that second paragraph until I had read it several times. I sometimes screw up that your, and you’re thing myself, and agree it was kinda petty to have it pointed out.Just to give you some practice,I’ve inbedded some punctuation errors of my own.See if you can find them!
Sitting in the middle of the seat with your sweetie’s arm around you means he has only one hand on the wheel, is somewhat distracted, and you don’t have your seat belt buckled! Save the canoodling until you’re parked somewhere, kids!
My girlfriend and I have been married for 34 years this month, and we are more in love than when we started. Doesn’t have to be a dial tone. Things really CAN get better with age!
Annie you have too many kids and you need some time for yourself, but thats not gonna happen is you keep having kids. learn to use some sort of birth control
Marriage is a vow to look after each other in good and bad times. I’m not saying divorce isn’t justified in some cases, but you don’t take off your ring and pack your bags the first time things get difficult. Haven’t you ever heard of counseling.
OMG, seems some people are a tad crabby today -— Remember this is a comic strip, not group therapy, reminds me of Bob Newhart’s group therapy sessions :) HAVE A WONDERFUL THURSDAY
Awww,I was just rattling your cage a bit Nightgaunt, but I wouldn’t mess with Euro too much,he’s likely forgotten more about grammar than the two of us know put together. And he taught Latin!!!
When I got married, my father said I had obvious responsibilities to my bride and our posterity (future kids not yet born). He also reminded me that marriage is not forever, only until my funeral. :P

The hardest thing to do but also the secret of maintaining the romance in a long term relationship, is to never take each other for granted.

She guessed she’s still in love. Well that’s a start. Most don’t know after time and children.

Love is a verb. In reality, it’s more about what you do than what you feel. Feelings are nice but feelings are fickle.
