“I know Abner has fooled them before” is possible foreshadowing that he didn’t die after all. In any case, it doesn’t seem like Mr. B. is all that anxious to keep hiring him.
I don’t think Abner is doing the dirt nap, I think the Doctor rescued two “Tracys” — getting the signatures on his “reading copies” will assist the real Tracy in arresting Abner. This scheme has him wearing a new face. I only hope Abner didn’t superglue a phony face on Dick. Nice variation on “Face Off” …
.The BMBG Radio Broadcasting Team stands ready for their next assignment… “Rikki’s Fate”. Stay tuned!.The BeeGee ever alert crew… Gweedo, Neil Wick, JPuzzleWhiz, and Vista Bill…
id like to see abner come back and fulfill his OWN contract…. ON BRIBERY!!!!
Apparently Mr Bribery believes he can just randomly “absorb” contract killers on a whim. Rikki doesn’t think so, and while she is not as “polished” or “experienced” in the art of murder as abner is… I don’t think she’ll be a pushover… and Bribery will find that out for himself all too soon!
Rikki attempting to take out Bribery due to Kadaver’s failure to fulfill the contract is not a likely premise. She is understandably upset at the likely demise of Abner. Yet we have seen no body. A card up the sleeve for Team Tracy to play (way) down the line? Rikki’s tear, I fear, may smear the dear.

For those (like me) not too familiar with the character, the Wikipedia article on Will Eisner’s The Spirit is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirit_(comics) and the official page on the Will Eisner website is http://www.willeisner.com/spirit/spirit-archives.html.
I notice that most take it that Bribery’s “I will take you into my direct employ” refers to Rikki alone. I thought that since Bribery started his sentence with “If he comes back,” in which case Rikki and Abner would be together again, the “you” referred to both of them.
English makes it so difficult. Most other languages have separate words for the second person singular and plural.
I’ve got to say that The Spirit is one of those characters I can only see drawn by his creator, even though I know that he’s had a bit of a revival. I’m apprehensive about this.
Well, Rikki has really told Bribery off Bigg-time! And now, we here at BMBG will commemorate this event with this hit from our enormous stacks of wax:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPrSVkTRb24
I see Rikki’s profanity-laced response to Mr. Bribery as more of an emotional response of the moment to Bribery’s clear implication that Abner is an ineffective if flamboyant fraud (though he attempts to couch his offer in polite terms). Abner is, after all, her man (despite the brief fling with Vista Bill, that cannily seductive smooth talking BMBG host).
I am intrigued by the Tracy (in this corner, in the yellow uniform…!) and the Spirit (and in this corner, wearing blue…!). The potential difficulty in blending the two into one strip that I see is that, IMO, Eisner’s distinctive creation relied heavily on the visual contexts and viewpoints—as The Steranko History of Comics puts it, Eisner’s The Spirit was like the German Expressionist films of the ‘20s, with similar varied camera angles and shots. I’m not sure that’s possible in today’s tiny, three-panel comic strips….
It’s interesting how Rikki’s old-fashioned-looking phone rings and then Mr. Bribery appears on her video screen, but it seems plausible. Nobody commented on that all day.
Is there any chance that someone here could render Panel #2 as an animated gif, so that Bribery’s head tilts into frame, lingers, tilts back out, then repeats?

Director Brad Bird dearly wanted to produce an animated film adaptation.
References to ‘The Spirit’ are made in in at least two of Bird’s films – THE IRON GIANT and THE INCREDIBLES.
In the latter, Mr. Incredible briefly sports a ‘Spirit’-style blue suit.

I’m assuming Commissioner Dolan and his daughter Ellen will be in attendance here, along with – Possibly – a villain and/or Femme Fatale or two.
This already reminds me a lot of another team-up which featured members of both character’s supporting casts …

Coincidentally, The Spirit experienced a brief “Space Era” as well …
AnyFace about 8 years ago
I believe that legendary comic artist Wally Wood had a hand in the space stories – Those certainly look to be Wood space helmet designs.
AnyFace about 8 years ago
The Spirit also had a flying car in the 1940’s, mostly a story convenience to readily convey him to far-flung locales.
