I’ve noticed that the site increased the comment character limit from 500 to 2000. That should make some people happy. On the voting site I like 257, fwiw. Also, I’ve found a trick. If you enter “http://www.luannfan.com/?fv-sorting=popular&fv-page=10#contest” it will load the first 10 pages (120 items) that are currently most popular. The 10 can be changed. Apparently, 48 will load all items at once, though it could be slow.

Does anyone know a way that still works to create either a paragraph break, or better still a blank line between paragraphs? Even a simple return (enter) seems to be removed when posting.

My limited facilities can’t process so many designs, it’s a pity the contest isn’t structured more like a pageant, so that the field would narrow in stages.

My tastes tend towards old-school glamour, #794 is quite elegant, though I also very much appreciate the beading and use of pearls on #319.

It’s also difficult to move too far out of the comfort zone of white/off-white as the primary color for a wedding dress.

Ah, but in these episodes, the “dress and shoes” are not traditional. They’re perfectly natural. And Nobody’s will clash with any other.

A comment to the “Song Title” writer… “Just Deserts, for the Cobbler”… Are they choosing Death Valley, now? That’s definitely a reason for shoes. I’m not sure you want to wear shoes in a dessert, either. Plastic Bags, maybe.

He even posts a picture of his library to illustrate his point (while denying us the same courtesy).

Shoes are more important than they seem:1) Wear flat whites if you have a long dress and want the groom to be taller. But then you’re playing into the “submissive bride” role.

    2) Wear white heels that make you taller than the groom if you want to begin asserting dominance. Be prepared for a back ache on your wedding night.

    3) Wear red heels that you kick off at the reception if you want people to know he got a spicy bride.

    4) Wear what you want — forget making a statement!

how about wearing shoes the make sense PHYSIOLOGICALLY? High heels etc, have never made sense to me, except in short term, dinner affairs or a night of romance, so to speak. A bride is going to be expected in many cases to dance, to mingle,to pose, and so forth. Why not wear something COMFORTABLE???

Anyone here ever see an obscure science fiction film from the late 1960’s called The Monitors?

    .

Pretty sure it’s up on YouTube, if people would like to check it out.

    .

    SPOILERS FOLLOW …

    .

    .

    .

    .

    .

    .

    .

    .

Benevolent alien overseers have arrived on Earth, eliminating war, famine, environmental catastrophe, pretty much all societal ills.

    .

A rag-tag group of Freedom Fighters/Anarchists opposes this, on the grounds that mankind must be free to make war, mess up the planet and in general do things against its own self-interest, if mankind so desires.

    .

The Freedom Fighters smuggle a type of super-bomb into the headquarters of The Monitors, threatening to set it off if The Monitors do not immediately withdraw from Earth.

    .

Despite this, The Monitors remain resolute. They’re going nowhere.

    .

Well, it turns out the bomb was a dud.

    .

And only then do The Monitors pack up and leave.

    .

What I liked about the ending that was The Monitors were steadfast in their refusal to reward bad behavior.

    .

… which sort of ties into blog posts and politics in general.

I lucked out a beautiful dress for $75 and already had nice white shows at home. We had a nice simple church wedding and then to my in-laws house for reception, so food was great as we got it from the German and Italian deli’s, plus the neighbor made the drinks so as my grandpa said “great drinks” not that watered down stuff at your sister’s wedding reception (mind you for $5000) and the food was bad. Glad we didn’t eat any.

    Dress, yes. Shoes, no.

So, I’d guess the dress Toni chose is not floor-length (which would render shoes Not Readily Visible). Shoes should match the dress in color and, if possible, in texture. Heels should be Not Too High (for comfort’s sake, unless she changes shoes immediately after the wedding and before the reception). At least, that’s how I see it….

Dress contest indicates that the wedding will take place, so none of Greg’s downers to spoil things like a fire injuring Toni or Toni running off to Peru. I swear this cartoonist is incapable of creating a happy ending. Exception: Knute.

This is a different Toni. The Toni we have known hasn’t ever shown interest in clothes or any aspect of wedding preparations. Seeing herself in that dress triggered something that has made her excited about having a wedding instead of marrying before a judge which I thought she would have preferred, if it weren’t for Brad.

I hope I am not identified as sexist, but women in general love shoes, and many spend a lot of time trying to decide on which ones they want to purchase for every day use, not to speak of, as here, what would would go perfectly at a wedding with the perfect wedding gown. I might note if its a long gown who is going to notice the shoes? But that would not matter to Toni. She would notice them, and that matters. But again, as I point out all the time, and this is a very late post, Sunday Luann is usually a humorous take on human foibles, so this follows that observation. Tomorrow will probably start a whole new arc, although chances are better than even that it will be still wedding related.

Even if the dress is floor length, there are a number of things that could happen to bring the shoes into view. If Toni sits down to have Brad remove a garter that might be thrown towards the single ladies, her shoes would be visible. That is, if she does it.
