At long last this arc is nearing the end. Now maybe soon we can seen Gunther and Tiffany becoming a serious item, not that they would talk marriage anytime soon, just to travel through life together as a couple.

Well, after Pru tried to give everyone a Puce of her mind, or so Luann thought, and after “A Periwinkle In Time”, and after it all went Gray, and then they all collaboratively shouted “We mean you no harmony!!!”, and TJ revealled that he is really B.A.T.Man, we’re soon to be nearing the big event!!

Brad has changed so much, it must’ve made Frank and Nancy’s head spin with dizziness! I’m sure they’ve been bewildered, trying to keep up with all of the changes! Heh, heh, good thing Luann is providing them with some consistency….

Yep! Frank and Nancy’s eldest is soon to be hitched! And now, it’s one down and- …Uh…. okay, well, it’s one down!…..

Looks like Nancy lost about 30 lbs between panels 1 & 3.

Hope? I would call it another thing, but oh well.

Frank looks like James Bond. Nancy looks like she’s going to an Amish wedding. Maybe she should get with the program and take style tips from Melania. I don’t care who you voted for, that is one First Lady who won’t ever look matronly.

So the marriage is going to happen next week? Before the 11th of December?

One other late before going to bed comment. Many here oftn make negative comments about the character the strip is designed around, the actual main character Luann. It would become very aggravating after awhile, and I did allow it to become that way until I realized two things: there is a major generational divide at play here. Most of the critics are far older than the Luann character (in real not Luannverse time), and have not only that but I think an anti-feminist attitude, particularly aimed toward young Caucasian girls. Being Black male Baby Boomer gives me an different perspective on this. Second, projection is a major critical practice here, which is related in an obverse way to the first point. The more generational and anti-young-White-feminist (that is a mouthful I admit) these critics are the more they project upon the character’s possible arc outcomes that correspond to something in their own lives they either miss or wish they had. I admit I am a Trufan because I like Luann and all the character stories, and they have been moving a lot more lately, with the college years, and the wedding of Brad and Toni, and intend to enjoy the cartoon as long as I still have brain power to do so. But I try to have objective criticism, and let my own biases, or frustrations not become the basis of my feelings or criticisms. Just food for thought.

Back to Gunth and Tiff!

Mischievous, but ready Shannon. If many of us could capture and freeze that child “innocence” and confidence, then we could probably avoid a lot of stress that develops as we mature.

Luann’s dress has long sleeves…how is she going to wear long, white gloves?

I still think Luann’s dress looks like a nightgown.

Frank is like the guy who clicks his remote at the wife while pressing the “mute” button.

Did Gunther make a dress for Shannon? Still no mention of dates. Perhaps this will be a couple-less reception. Like grade-schoolers. Remember those?

Oh good, it’s almost done. About time. Please don’t talk about Brad and Toni for a while once this arc is done.

Am I the only one who thinks Luann’s dress isn’t bad? I actually like the drape and the asymmetrical 2-piece look. We can only guess at the fabric but assume a matte jersey or something similar with a small lace trim. Anyway, it’s really not bad and likely perfectly constructed since Gunther did it.

Frank’s soft snap in the last frame may be to get Luann’s attention to Shannon who holds all the missing goods. And appears to be ‘ready’ with some messy red lipstick.

Yeah – we could use some hope.

Still hideous: Luanns’ dress. Just short of hideous: Nancy’s outfit. There should have been a contest for those outfits, too. Luann usually dresses very nicely for whatever is going on in her life. And, Gunther has made some pretty awesome costumes. What happened?

Shannon is definitely a go-getter. Twice in a week she’s been done while everyone else dithered.

So the date is December 11 in the strip. That leaves a lot of real time for things to happen in the next 2 weeks. Maybe the wedding will start in the next week and take a full comic week to show.

Franks was snapping his fingers at first to go along with how he said Brad grew up just like that. He keeps snapping his fingers at Luann as in hopes it’s magic to make Luann do the same. You’re welcome

Nancy says that she’s proud of the beautiful wedding that Brad planned. Apparently she doesn’t know that Brad turned that role over to TJ.

Sisyphos, left you one late yesterday on avoiding having to cut long hair due to knots and knot promoters like twigs. If someone in GE’s family has long hair or had to lose it haphazardly to knots at some point, that could explain him illustrating Toni brushing her hair at first chance. And, yes, the result i had back then (mentioned in my message) really looked just that bad. Braids were often used through the centuries to minimize the problem, also hair tied up at night.

I would like to see Pru and the young black woman whose name I have forgotten who was Luann’s friend in high school meet and fall in love and marry.

Your comments, as usual, are interesting and very pro Luann (which is a good thing). I think that you are also correct in assuming that most commenters are way older than Luann and friends, so we have a tendency to coach the actions from our own past experience….what might be, somehow became what might have been. Luann and Bernice are just your average girls, not registering very high on the “cuteness” scale. Tiffany, Nancy, Rosa, and Crystal score much higher and Tiffany is the ultimate sex symbol who would intimidate most boys. Crystal would offer such a challenge to boys (except Knute) that she would scare them off. She is a mystery….straight or lesbian? Knute is the true cartoon male, happy and not worried about anything. Gunther is the stereotype of nervous, tongue-tied nerds. So, bottom line is we cheer for Gunther to win the respect and heart of Tiffany.

Well, gee you can roast your turkey and have your own very private Thanksgiving at the end! Feel luckier now?

Unfortunately, Shannon beat me to them. She also found your lipstick, by the way.

I hope this is just a rehearsal, because we have two weeks to fill before the wedding date!

Okay, since nobody else is gonna ask the question, I will: why is it Luann’s job to help Shannon get ready? Where is the little brat’s father? Of all the events Jonah should be at, his sister’s wedding ranks high up on the list, so where is he? I highly doubt Toni is gonna have him give her away, so between him and Luann, she has a lot more responsibilities at this wedding and therefore a lot less available time to be looking after her. So what gives?

Oh, and before anyone gets indignant and shrieks “Shannon is NOT a ‘brat’!” let me clear this up: she most certainly IS. The only reason it’s been harder to tell lately is that everyone bends over backwards to accommodate her all the time. Even in this very strip, not many people noted the fact that she rummaged through someone else’s things yet again with no rebuke whatsoever. Everyone in the strip lets her do whatever she wants almost all the time. Well, any kid is friendly when things are going their way; it’s how they deal with disappointment that shows their true character. And any time someone stops letting her have her way, Shannon throws a gigantic tantrum. That, my friends, is the behavior of a brat. Don’t get me wrong, she’s come a long way. But she’s not quite there yet. There’s a reason nobody is willing to tell her “no” yet.

I don’t see how there would be time for a rehearsal. The implication yesterday was that Brad and Toni were going straight from the fire to the wedding without even being able to stop at their respective homes. Usually a wedding rehearsal would be held at least one day before the wedding. (Also, the characters would probably not wear the clothes they were going to wear to the wedding at a rehearsal.)

There will be nothing unusual about Greg and Karen stretching out the events of the wedding day over two weeks of strips. Heck, they managed to stretch the events of Luann and Bernice encountering Jack and Nil at the Fuse over two weeks earlier this month. A wedding day would be much more eventful and presumably involve more characters, and thus easier to stretch out.

Much like a military operation, no wedding in the history of humanity has ever gone off without at least one hitch, big or small. My own had several. 40 years, 2 children, and 5 grandchildren later, we’re still together and we still love each other. It’s the marriage that matters, not the wedding.

I am getting “excited.” The dress that won the most votes will finally be revealed; not my first choice, however. I hope Greg has added some grace to it! I have been enjoying the various arcs of Brad and Toni. He is so Very Different from the way he was at the beginning. Unlike Luann, he has changed and grown. Luann has some, but not as much as Brad. I am sort of surprised about the Bernice arc…she has changed so much! But, she now seems more “human” with all its foibles. About the wedding…will Luann Ever get her act together?!

Speak for yourself. I would rather he won the heart of Bernice—or Luann.
