Poor Doc. All he wants is to be with his family and to know they are happy. Just like all of us this holiday season. Merry Christmas to all!

Dumbledore believed in the “greater good” too. And he was wrong, also. Little Harry Potter, for the length of seven books was mistreated and abused for 16 years. JKR wrote that scene where Harry sees Dumbles in the “afterlife”, and the Headmaster admits how he was wrong, and should have done things differently.

The "greater good " is nonsense, if it neglects and harms the one, single person. There really is NO such thing as the “greater good”. Spock and Frodo Baggins were also examples of the same thing.

Compare Doc Chase’s sentiments with Holly’s when she doesn’t bother to even leave a note to say goodbye to him—saying “He’ll understand.”http://www.gocomics.com/endtown/2013/09/16It’s just another example of Holly’s actions showing that she’s only concerned about her own feelings. Any “nurturing” she did (i.e. Wally) she did through a need to “play house”. She has always been somewhat “normal” when she’s had a child-surrogate to take care of. Once the child surrogate becomes independent, Holly has a tantrum, or gives them up. It happened with Chic as well. Once he showed that he wasn’t “helpless”, Holly ignored him. Clive the tupperware brain was definitely a child surrogate (read “helpless infant”) and fed Holly’s need. Her reactions at losing him/it weren’t surprising in this light. She even physically threatened the other child (Chic) with violence over it.

So then why let Doc Chase find out anything about what’s been happening to Holly since he last saw her?

That said, I’d love to get a decent view of Marx’s Greater Good. He has sacrificed a lot of people in “The Milk Trial” in its pursuit, and he didn’t seem too happy about doing that.

That’s not fair!

While I understand and agree with Doc, we must think of this….. “Why do you think that YOUR selfish desires are of more import than HER selfish desires?”……I don’t have an answer.

The statement, “The greater good.” Should always be followed by, "The greater good for WHOM???

Dumbledore was so misguided, IMHO, that he was almost evil. In a way, he was almost a dark lord himself. (At least as far as the HP character was concerned,)

I remain convinced that Holly is, in fact, in duress. This current story line strongly suggests that we will have yet another “rescue Holly” episode. However, it is not yet clear who will do the rescuing, now that cat and lizard have been shaken from her trail. Perhaps Aaron Marx is in the process of luring Doc Chase into doing the job.

Today’s installment of Endtown, posted late, shows Aaron Marx refusing to bring Holly to Doc Chase, Holly’s foster parent, of sorts. This is after Wednesday’s installment, posted Thursday, showing Aaron getting angry at Doc because Doc thinks Aaron can bring her back. Aaron is upset because Doc thinks that he (Aaron) is a “god.” Already noted, Aaron Marx behaves pretty much like a “god” in this comic strip, so I can forgive Doc for his assumption.

Today’s installment shows Aaron doing nothing to change Doc’s mind that he (Aaron) certainly CAN fulfill his (Doc’s) request. All we have is Aaron’s refusal to do so.

This, combined with Aaron’s apparent remorse in the telling of this story. While Holly wasn’t mentioned in Aaron’s story up to this point, she does appear to be the source of sorrow for both Doc and Aaron.

Somehow, I’m siding with Aaron Marx. There comes a time where you shouldn’t mess with another person’s happiness just because you want them back with you. Doc needs to learn this, and though “the greater good” isn’t the best explanation to leave Holly be, it’s adequate. I wonder if Doc read Holly’s note to Wally as that story arc was being played out on Aaron’s inter-dimensional lap top.

If Holly do really need to be rescued again, it will not want to happen at a time or place where she sees Wally and Kirbee together and having the free and floating fun in the way they will be; happier no drama and Chic growing up, I do hope we see them BeFore Chic grows up Too much. Seems like that would be hard to handle that her 1st, or 2nd, since the Amesworth bombs went off.

To hell with the greater good, I’m voting the party ticket.

I have wondered somewhat about Marx’s “greater good” here. I understand his stance about Doc Chase needing to stay in Endtown. They need somebody, ideally a couple of somebodies, who can take care of the town’s medical needs and Chase is the only doc they’ve got.

By saying Holly is as good as dead on the EF, I mean that the dittos may already have her in a cocoon, feeding her the illusions that keep her happy as they drain the energy out of her. This is why I believe Holly is in great danger. // And others have pointed out that yanking her from these illusions may be just as harmful to her as leaving her on the EF. This is especially true if Wally and Kirbee do the yanking. // Which is why I think Aaron is being coy about recruiting Doc Chase to do the dirty deed. // And, while we’re at it, can Wally really trust his dittos? What allegiance do they have to him?

I don’t think Holly is in any danger from the dittos on the Fitz. There was a comment a few weeks ago from someone who was in touch directly with Aaron Neatherly explaining that once the ship has chosen a captain the dittos keep him/her alive and happy. And only occasionally drain some of the capt’s energy. It’s for the ‘greater good’ of the ship to keep the captain content.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, EVERYONE! Even though I fear Doc is not getting the only thing he really wants for Christmas…

Marx moralizing to Doc, when Marx was directly responsible for the milk trial, is something else. Someone willing to torture the innocent for the greater good is pretty clearly evil.

Holly’s not dead, but she should be. Only Doc was supposed to be taken to EndTown, but he insisted she go with him. He got seven more years with her than he would have without Marx and the Dutchess planning for him.

Yep. I know that feeling. I also know Marx still rides away.

I know I came into this story a number of years in, but I never got the impression Doc was close to his daughter Holly.
