@MORDOCK999: I know Tiff’s suite is fairly large, but I doubt she’d be able to get a semi in it. Much less a strange semi or even a stranger semi. Besides, most residence halls do not permit anything that burns fuels in them, diesel or otherwise.

Well I know Bern is jealous. But at this point I don’t know anything else…

The tv was picked up for repair and nobody remembered it. IT will pop back up in a couple of days (def not real time!!)

I work in the same building as a 55 year old Bernice. I dread any interaction with her. I have never seen her happy and she seems to think she is in charge of something/everything.

Remember Luann? She used to be the main character of this strip…

Berenice used to be a pleasant character, now she’s the worst. Tiffany, however, grown to a fine girl.

A person as jealous as Berni would be the last woman I’d want to marry. Or even be around for that matter.

If (“Dr.”) Gunther Berger can turn into “The Incredible Sulk”, then Bernice can go incognito as “Miss Doubt-Ire”….

There’s an innuendo here, but I’m wondering if Tiffany knows Piro in a different context— son of father’s friend, maybe, or something like that.

Why is “Piro gave you his phone number” listed along with dorm policy violations? In Bernice’s mind, it’s also a violation?

Our RA wants Piro to “feel the Bern” (sorry folks) while possibly rushing to punish Tiffany. Ah, Bernice … you can’t hold him and hold the rule book (as she was literally doing several strips ago) at the SAME TIME!

@all: The Sunday strip, 01/22/2017; first panel shows Bernice holding an “R.A. Rules” book (not the book AND Piro both, obviously). :)

We haven’t seen Piro since Tiff’s “Oopsie, my button broke” moment several months ago. This may be the most tension Evans has created since Toni was irritated with her brother. It will be interesting to see what the two girls do when Piro does re-enter the scene.

Bernice has always acted as the damper to Luann’s exuberance, setting up untold gag lines in the past. It appears Greg Evans has yet to find a place for Bernice in this college milieu. Bernice usually appeared in Luann’s bedroom. The Luann/Bern dynamic doesn’t seem to work in any situations of late; when they appear together at all. It would appear that Greg is foundering here.

I thought I left a comment last night before I went to bed here in Chicago. Maybe I was so sleepy I forgot to hit the comment tab. Darn, it was long as I am wont to do. I just want to point out my theme that both Tiffany and Bernice are keeping from each other the fact that they both allowed Piro to stay in their rooms for one night apiece when THEY were in the room. This was part of an arc before we got into the wedding arcs with Bernice, and there was a strong implication that this happened with TIffany one night. I do believe that while Tiffany may know more than she is revealing, she really does not know Piro. I don’t think she is as fascinated by his mysterious nature as much as Bernice might be. Tiffany can’t be accountable if Piro had anything to do with the theft of the TV if she was not in the room during break, at least criminally, but definitely it was negligent for her to give her keycard to a stranger, who is not a student, apparently, at the university. There are so many facts out there not known. I also just wanted to mention that the drawing of the body language and the responses to each other is so well-drawn I can imagine the tone of the words each one is speaking.

Okay. I just don’t see anything malevolent (or romantic) in the actions of Tiffany. She did fib to protect Piro, I am assuming, but on the whole this seems to be protective and caring behavior of Tiffany. Who knew?! This is part of a Tiff-rehabilitation-program that the Evanses have been conducting for awhile now. That is why Tiff is calm on the whole and Bernice is overwrought. I am a huge fan of Tiffany’s personal growth.

Okay, as the official barracks guard, Bernice has the right to question Tiffany. But, this is personal, not official, and I don’t like Tiffany being put on the defensive. She has matured and stayed attractive. Bernice is still a silly high school girl mentally and definitely has not made any effort to be attractive. Bernice is the reincarnation of Margo Phelps, poster girl for “Drab Monthly”.

Having failed so many times in the past to predict what Evans will do with an arc, I have tried to stop predicting what lies ahead. However, I don’t think Piro stole the TV. Wouldn’t it be hilarious if he reappeared with a wife in tow. It would really be interesting to see the effect that this would have on Tiff and Bern and their future relationship.

Wait a minute – Tiffany knows Bernice has a crush on Piro – that’s what the “Distract Piro” plan was all about [ 3-19-16 ] is she about to hit her over the head with it? Also, when did they move this conversation to a room on the third floor?

Is it me, or does that dorm kinda look like a prison? lol :P

Crushes can squeeze you in odd and ugly ways. Bernice is in that phase.

@LUANAPHILE AND FRANK FARKEL: I’m one of those who sees an echo in Piro of vets I’ve met, over the years, who were walking around with undiagnosed PTSD, or just as bad, undiagnosed closed head wounds. They could be functional most of the time, but seemed unable to settle into everyday life. Piro’s great attraction to silence as a partial explanation for liking silent movies reminded me a lot of one of the things he has in common with some of the PTSD vets; noise can seem overwhelming. So can connections; to others, to a job, to expectations that you show up and do something when your head is noisy with voices from the past who are calling for help after a bomb blast, and you can’t help. Not to be overly dramatic, just that I don’t see Piro as someone who is either a ‘bum’ or someone who can commit to anyone. Not because he’s asexual; just because he’s lost in his own head…

So Tiffany is winning to let someone she doesn’t know stay in her dorm while she was away? And Bernice is jealous over it? OK, that’s it! The two of them need to get answers from Piro. TV or not, he has some explaining to do!

Has Bernice always been this anal? For once, I am siding with Tiff!

@DRAGONCAT: Wait – what? Two college women, who should be a bit more mature than this, are fighting a tug-of-war over a guy neither of them knows well enough to even figure out what his last name is, let alone what his life is about – and HE’S the one who has some ’splaining to do? I think Tiffany and Bernice need to explain to themselves what the he-double hockey sticks is going on in their own heads…

Can’t wait until Bernice accuses Piro of stealing the TV. Wonder how she’ll work that into the conversation.

Bernice is just a bundle of passion, jealousy and conflict. She’s obsessed with Piro and of course desperate to find out more about him, and she’s using this incident as a means. I believe Tiffany based on her facial expressions; but it is odd that she would give her room key to someone she hardly knows. She must have some knowledge. The expression on her face when she was texting Piro in the hall to tell him to get out suggested some kind of casual relationship.

@RSH: I am not sure if we can trust Tiffany based on her facial expressions. She had a very surprised look on her face when she “discovered” her key card was “missing”. She darn well knew exactly where it went.

Bernice is becoming a cranky old spinster right before our very eyes!

Tiffany is telling the plain truth, as anyone with an open mind could see, Bernice….

Bernice is very plain, and she can put on an angry, ugly face the way Tiffany puts on makeup. Little Miss Iceberg.
