They weren’t exactly girlfriends, but there are times I think about the girls I hung out with.

Well, this Sunday issue is still on-thread from the week. Something’s coming up about the future of Luann’s love life.

I remember the good old days when sodas had the pull tabs and when you opened them, they actually shot out forward like that. Nowadays, if you shake one and open it, it shoots towards yourself. No bueno.

Some of us carry our history along with us through the decades.

Anyone who had a relationship of any length can recall good and bad memories about it. That’s not the same thing as ‘carrying baggage’. If Bernice hadn’t mentioned Quill to Luann, she wouldn’t have been talking about him. Everyone is in a hurry to see Luann start dating again. Me, I’m hoping she finds a good friend (woman or man) who she can just talk to about possible careers, and who she can spend time with without worrying about the ‘relationship’. Considering how Bernice always snarks at her, and Tiffany goes out of her way to pick fights, Luann needs a real friend. Maybe Toni?

You should talk, Bernice. How long did it take you to get over Zach again?

And she charges $30 a bag going only one way.

I thought that final comment was funny, “more baggage than Delta Airlines”. Whether this fall into Luann’s love life, and if so how, remains to be seen. Since the wedding we now have at least three unresolved arcs so far.

I wonder how much it cost Delta Airlines for the plug?

I remember a few months ago, Luann ran into Quilly somewhere – I believe it was on one of the campi/campuses. Their conversation seemed to echo these notes, almost like they were having second thoughts about their breakup.

Sigh. A sure sign they will eventually get back together. Foreign guys and bad boys always get the best girls.

Curious, the thought balloon showing them in the prop room would seem to show Luann with just a bra strap. Those prop room interludes must have been pretty steamy,

funny, now that Bernice mentions Delta, what became of her?

Comes with living. It’s been 10 years and I still think of my ex occasionally, and sigh.

Someday these thoughts that are now bittersweet will be just sweet memories, and Luann will be glad to have them. They’re hardly “baggage.”

It’s great she remembers all the sweeter memories (good Todd Rundgren song BTW :). Nothing about the big blowup with him, just the happy times. As it should be.

When I think about Quill, I think about a man who led his girlfriend to believe that he was cheating on her with his lesbian friend, Pru.

Who was Bern thinking about that caused her to ask such a question? Dunt, dunt, duuuuhh!!

Speaking of Delta; she went away for college and has not been seen or heard of since then. She doesn’t even show up for breaks or summer. I miss her character. And Rosa, too.

When did Luann join Starfleet? And where’s her department badge?

I remember over a year ago being told multiple times by major contributing commentators of this strip (who have since stopped adding their thoughts) that Luann and Quill would never be an item again. Wonder if this is a precursor to Quill reappearing as a love interest for Luann?

I never did like Quill, so I’m really hoping they don’t wind up back together.

Speaking of which, where is Delta? Will we see her at Spring Break?

Today’s panels fit in with the week by making it clear that Luann does still think about Quill and probably doesn’t want to date Jack. Several months ago when Luann ran into Quill on her way to see Gunther about sewing her bridesmaid dress it seemed clear that he misses her too. So the door may be open for Tiffany and Jack to start something.

Gee Bernice if memories are considered ‘baggage’ then should we all hope to be diagnosed with dementia in our final years so that we won’t be burdened by so many pleasant memories?

Bernice SHUT UP! Because you haven’t had a boyfriend in years is no excuse to treat your so-called best friend like that!

So, is Quill about to make a reappearance?

“Think about Quill”? No. By which I mean Yes.

Which is perfectly normal, as long as you are functioning day-to-day….

Luann. A friend is someone who makes you feel better about yourself. Bernice doesn’t usually do that.

Bernice and Luann have to start wearing clothes that “say something”, like Crystal or Tiffany. Tighter, shorter, more provocative. To the world, you are what you wear. Crystal and Knute look like Goth and Goof, but you know what you’re getting. Rosa was, Toni is, Nancy is, even old Ann Eiffel was hotter than these two future bag ladies. Maybe they should be a little less “blue light special” and more “red light district”.
