I wonder if this has anything to do with that mostly-unseen guy that was picking up her signals and was going to venture out to find its source in a few months. How long ago was that anywayâŠ.
Little does she know that the Moon is not the place where sheâll find out whether the real Lunarians will accept her, but thatâs classified, as Tracy says.
Mysta still doesnât know the Moon people have left Luna. Iâm surprised not even Honeymoon has told her this, though I guess Honey was sworn to total secrecy about her 2012 Space Coupe adventure. So I guess Iâm not surprised, really.
On September 15 2015, Bribery said he would eventually come back to âcollectâ Mysta, and that she would make âa charming enjoyâ when he eventually contacted Moon Valley. Iâve had it in my mind ever since that that is how Mysta will one day go to the moon, with Bribery and against her will. It doesnât necessarily mean things will turn out that way, of course.
seems im the ONLY ONE who wishes that Frankenmindy would take a permanent residence on the dark side of the moon.
I donât think the Moon Governor and the remaining moonies would take so kindly to Frankenmindyâs usurping Mysta Tracyâs likeness, regardless of whether or not she was a willing test subject.
I hope we get back to a Tracy-like story someday. This practice of opening up a story, setting it down and opening up another, and so on really grates on me. Itâs like trying to read a dozen books at one time! I fully expect to flash back to Barney Google and Popeye next week.
@ MORROW CUMMINGS: I like the way you expressed that: I hope we get back to a Tracy-like story someday I was just saying the other day that Mike and Joe might benefit from re-reading some of the classic stories from the 1950s, which they themselves proclaimed to be their favorite period.
Yâknow.. reading all these comments today about how readers here are unhappy with âdroping stories ten getting back to them laterâ reminds me of the comments I made a few years back saying the same exact thing.. to which the majority of the replies I got werenât exactly very nice at all and I was told repeatedly that its foreshadowing or âwhats wrong with introducing a new story while the current one winds downâ or better yet âthe writer knows what he is doingâ and I was pretty much verbally âslapped downâ for even THINKING that mike had too many irons in the fire and that if I âcould do better than go aheadâ
Although I tend to agree with others that Mysta is more of a gimmick from Team Tracy, she has shown her qualities. Sheâs a tragic figure. Kidnapped, abused. She has my sympathies and respect. Sheâs grown from a bitter, obsessed girl, to a more well rounded woman with exceptional beauty.
As long as Mysta isnât used as a gimmick then I say, âstayâ I would personally like to see her in more normal clothing however instead of the fanboi outfit sheâs constantly wearing. Which makes her seem more as a gimmick.
Fans have always had strong opinions about Moon Maid. I suppose you can tell from my profile pic what camp Iâm in. I recall several times over the last few years where Willy or maybe Sydney (RIP) collected data based on gocomics fan feedback about Mysta. Consistently, it showed that there was a strongly favorable response to her introduction and story. There were those who disagreed of course. We had some lively discussions about her in the comments section, and everyoneâs entitled to their opinion. I personally think Mysta is the best thing thatâs happened to Dick Tracy in years. Not just because sheâs interesting and lovely and all that, but because she is at the center of the reintroduction of the moon period, a fantastic, creative, and popular period of the strip and had been ignored for way too long. Seeing Mysta dressed as she is takes me back to that great time and gives me hope it will continue going forward. As for the âfanboiâ aspect, I scrolled down the screen just now and saw a muscular pic of Tarzan wearing only a loincloth. Maybe we should complain that he needs to cover up rather than going about in that fangirl outfit heâs constantly wearing, which makes him more like a gimmick. Same thing applies to other strips. Spidey should wear normal clothes from now on, because that skintight suit he wears that shows off all his muscles makes him just a gimmick. Okay, sarcasm aside, I know Dick Tracy isnât a superhero story, but itâs always been populated by mutants (Brush last week?) and other characters who have a distinctive look and way of dressing. And it just seems appropriate to me that Mysta, who was cloned with the original Moon Maidâs genetic material, and who has transformed into a lunar woman, and has the memories of a lunar woman, that she would want to dress like a lunar woman. Itâs her identity now. Nothing odd or gimmicky about that, it just makes sense. And if it makes her fans happy, thereâs nothing at all wrong with that, either.
Mystaâs mooning (pardon the pun) is probably to be taken as a foreshadowing of an adventure-yet-to-come.
And while I do not object to her presence or habiliment here, I was never a fan of the âMoon Periodâ of the strip. I found it corny and utterly unbelievable as a fan of ârealâ science fiction myself and of detective-story Dick Tracy. And I think that Chester Gould, once real men had set real feet on the real moon, concluded that he was in over his depth and did what he could within fan-base constraints to make it all go away as far as possible (which may or may not be another pun).
And, yet, here we are, with lots of chestnuts roasting on the storyline fire; I hope we get to nosh on them before they go up in flamesâŠ.

I get the feeling Mysta, and we, will later find out.

She refers to the âreal Lunarians.â Does this mean she knows sheâs just a freakish genetic experiment?

That makes sense: Moon Valley was probably off limits to Smith Industries employees while they were working on the Moon.
