I’m sorry for those who take offense at the current storyline. It’s quite relevant with this new administration that would happily shutdown anything that offends Trumps sensibilities. There’s a great divide right now and if we don’t resist we’ll be no better off than Russia. This is the new normal
For many decades the comics have been one of my favorite sections of the newspaper. Why? Because it’s where the truth is told. The comics mirror life in our society. The comics often tell it first and more accurately than columns of print from pundits. Today’s Baldo strip is truly exceptional. It is a keeper. It goes under the glass on my desktop. There is no darkness but ignorance. (William Shakespeare)
“This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal.” – Toni Morrison, from her essay “No Place for Self-Pity, No Room for Fear” (Thank you J Lo for reminding of these powerful words.)
The objections remind me of the meme that Hollywood performers should keep their opinions to themselves. Aren’t they real people with something to say? There are a few TV commercials which provide “real people not actors”!
OH, and if you ARE fed up with this strip because it’s turning political, you need to unsubscribe to it. The fewer subscribers the less money they’ll get.
What happened to the first amendment? Freedom of speech? Freedom of Satire ? Does Our our freedoms being selectively protected only if the don’t offend Trump? http://www.hg.org/article.asp?id=34438
Too bad Che wasn’t ranting with a Cuban-American student nearby, especially one who had a family member/relative imprisoned or killed by the Castro regime. Che would be schooled in what it really means to live under genuine tyranny.
Very likely this is a Cantu-Castellanos Hoax to attract attention. Mallard Fillmore doesn’t get censored, and a week or so ago, Luann was censored at the local newspaper level for being too sexy. I would be surprised if this Bureau even exists.
@Rocky not only are we a democracy with a “president” who considers himself above the law. Trump wants to control all, ego maniac, who wants to make his presidency into a monarchy…. a despicable man!!!
An important element of humor is a basis in truth. This is not based in truth, so it is not humorous, it is merely activism. Another strip gets removed from my list.
There’s no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you. — Will Rogers
Some things never change…
For those of you threatening to drop the comic from your list – JUST DO IT – you don’t need to bother telling the rest of us about it as we actually understand the joke and your temper tantrum doesn’t change that. Don’t let the door hit you on the ass on the way out and good riddance.
Upon examining the strip, I believe this is a statement by the creator and not something imposed. There is no such agency as “Federal Bureau of Media Content”. I think the creator is making a statement and many have been misled into thinking it has been censored.
Continued…..I’m from Miami, Florida I’ve herd stories of what real oppression was all about. From classmates telling how their parents would isolate them in another room so they could listen to Radio Marti hoping they wouldn’t accidentally mentioned it to a stool pigeon. There was a woman who came over in the Mariel boat lift rather than coming to America after her husband was put into prison she stayed until e died in prison. His crime? Their good friend Fidel Castro felt he couldn’t trust the guy had him put away. Tell me then about oppression. I’m sad this is a wonderful comic.

Could we please leave the politics out of the comics? Isn’t it enough we can’t watch the news or listen to radio without being beset with it ?

Love this strip. Says a lot about the world we live in and with Trump at the helm things are looking rather bleak for not only us but our allies.

He’s just a president, folks. Not a king. His ideas have to go through the same channels as Obama’s did.

And who is that is really pushing for censorship? The Fairness Doctrine has always been a baby of the DNC as is the Johnson Amendment.
And the rioting in colleges have been to shut down conservative speakers for decades now.
Censorship is something the Democrats push and have pushed for decades.
