Someone posted that we have 8 years of this to endure. I (prayerfully ) differ. I don’t think Trump will last out his 4 year term. He will either be impeached ( if the Dems regain the House or the Senate – a strong possibility, thanks to tRUMP ) or he decides he’s accomplished so many wonderful things, that he ( in typical Trump fashion ) turns over the White House business to his Vice-President, or …he finally has a complete mental and physical meltdown.
If any of those scenarios play out, I predict we’ll all be talking about and lampooning President Pence ( Now there’s a really scary thought ! )
It is funny how so many Republican trump defenders keep up the line of “well, trump is better than Hillary Clinton.” I take issue with that, I do believe that Hillary is far more competent than trump, but I also believe at this point it is no longer the issue. When I was a kid, I remember there were Nixon defenders who claimed the same about McGovern, saying that Nixon was better than McGovern. I don’t believe that was true either, but in any case, it was not the point. The point was that Nixon was guilty. At the end, he went on TV and sobbed, then resigned. The next day, we all watched as he and his family got on a helicopter and left. It was over. The same thing should happen to trump, though I am no fan of Pence. Again, that is not the issue. There are issues with trump in terms of Russian collusion and treason! That is a serious charge. I am not pro death penalty, so I don’t believe that trump or any of his followers should get the death penalty. However, the penalty for treason is DEATH. This is the level of seriousness with the situation with trump at this time. Trump defenders keep saying that there is no there there. However, as Adam Schiff noted recently, “if there was no there there James Comey would still have a job.” In terms of Comey, many Republicans are crying foul because Democrats were dismayed about his treatment of Hillary. And now, trump claims that he fired Comey due to his treatment of Hillary. Uh no. He fired Comey because Comey was coming too close in his investigation regarding Russia, Comey had asked for additional funds only days before he was fired!
As long as the Emperor can appease his rabid fan base, by throwing them raw meat, he’ll stick around. But there will come a day, when all but the most die-hard Trumpists are going to desert him. When that happens, he’ll simply tell the world that he accomplished everything he told them he’d do, and he’s made America Great, then he’ll walk away, leaving the sh*t & shambles for someone else to clean up.
I said to someone a couple of weeks ago there’s a real chance he’ll use the Vietnam exit strategy: when he tires of it, he can declare victory and go home.
He certainly doesn’t need this: it’s a whole lot more responsibility, accountability, and just work for a whole lot less money than he was making before. When the ego boost of being The Prez fades, there may not be so much to keep him in the job.
If the Democrats are able to take control of either the House or Senate in 2018, they’ll begin a new investigation of Trump’s financial connections as soon as the new Congress convenes. Trump will resign rather than allow the Dems to subpoena his tax returns from the IRS and delve into his long history with Russia.
No one reads comments this far down the page. However, I have to say how much I appreciate the read. I am a PROUD Democrat. I wonder if any Trump followers can use the the word, “proud” when addressing Trumpezium?
I have to say: a lot of the more recent (later) posters seem to misunderstand, as does the President, that a very small percentage of the electorate voted for him. The vast majority of his votes were from people voting against Hillary.
Why do you think Gary Johnson got several million votes? While I’m sure there were maybe a dozen friends and family who wanted him to be President, 99% were just voting against both.
It is entirely the Democrats’ fault that The Donald is President now. Lets see if they can nominate someone the tiniest bit electable next time.
Quick quiz: name 3 other people, any people, with at least a room-temperature IQ who could have lost a head-to-head election against Donald Trump.
In the early primaries, there were nearly 20 Republicans to choose from, several of whom are intelligent and most of whom are sane. Yet the primary voters picked Trump, who is neither.

And while I’m heaping it on, this is definitely among GT’s better political strips.
