If people had children before they had children, they’d never be able to have children.

Brad may be part of Toni’s family, but so is Jonah. So pretty much immediate family first.

I like that Brad’s developed such a sense of responsibility toward Shannon that he really worries about her welfare. That’s great, because he shares that purpose with Toni. Some guys would cop the opposite attitude.

I like the way they cover themselves with the sheets so we readers can’t see what they are doing.

Does that phone have a webcam?

How many years will it take before Brad and Toni adopt Shannon? I think it will happen.

No multi tasking. Finish what you’ve started and then move on to the next item on the agenda.

Brad & Toni have both sensed it could be an emergency with Shannon. If Jonah just wants a sitter so he can take off for a big gig – it’s time to tell Jonah, “Hey – thank us for all the other times – and pay a sitter this time.”

Man I’m not feeling Toni right now.

Good lord, Toni is such a pushover. I hope if (or more likely, WHEN) it turns out that Jonah just wants a free babysitter again, they flat-out refuse. They need to stop enabling Jonah’s bad parenting once and for all.

For Brad, the only question is, if there is an issue that effects Shannon’s welfare? I want Brad as my son or son-in-law, because he takes charge in looking after the people he cares about, Toni does not fully appreciate the male she had bonded with. His commitment to caring about his “family” is stronger than immediate sex. Shannon has already been adopted by Brad.

Toni just needs to come around to accepting Shannon’s adoption, and realizing that Brad is the best father she could have as a husband.

The old “Mickey Mouse Club” show had themed shows set for certain days of the week. One day was designated “Anything Can Happen Day.” I think this comic strip and other forms of serial entertainment are like that. So many think they have every nuancy possibilification brained out pre-eventwise. (OK, so I’m channeling Alex DeLarge) But anything can happen, ya know.

Brad is acting more like a dad now, worrying about his little one. He’s ready. Will Toni say no, Shannon is more than enough, perhaps until she starts school? There gotta be some kind of conflict between the newlywed sometime, and Shannon seems to be the most obvious source.

All you people dying for TJ to move out, he’ll make a great nanny for when they (a) adopt Shannon, and (b) have a baby of their own.

And, knowing Jonah like we all do, he’s probably already en route to the house with Miss Thing in tow…

It’s what it always is. His BIG break. And as usual, his selfish sister is standing in his way. If Shannon was not okay. Would Jonah be waiting for a phone call or be on with his sister already?

TJ – (“What In the World Did I get Myself into, agreeing to Baby-Sit this BRA- Uh, Child?”) A Brooding TJ thought to Himself. ("This Old Parasite has GOT to Find Himself a New “Host.” But Who? I GOT IT!!")

[The Next Day at the Berger House]

Gunther – “Why Hello, TJ. Why are You He…,”

TJ – "I got some BAD News, Gunth. I overhead Mr Gray telling folks He’s gonna “Sweet-Talk” Your Mom into letting Les stay with You in Your room, the minute Quill is gone."

Gunther – "Oh NO!

TJ – "Oh YES! So If You Don’t want Old Les Pounding You in the Head all night, Stealing Your lunch Money and Regaling with tales of what He and Tiff just “Did,” You’ll listen. I can Help You with two of those “problems.” All You gotta do is let ME have the Room. RENT Free! Then, No Les! Deal?"

Gunther – “DEAL! Move In NOW! Oh by the way. do You know anything about…., Uhhhh, poisons?”

TJ- “Maybe. Why?”

Gunther – “Well there’s this uhhh, large *”RAT"* that’s been showing up once a month at Family Dinners, that I’d REALLY like to get RID of. Not Kill Him, just make Him so Miserable that He NEVER Returns. Can You Help?"

TJ – “I Might. But It’s going to COST You. A LOT!” Said TJ discreetly turning on a hidden tape recorder.

They could always refuse to care for Shannon, no matter what Jonah’s flimsy excuse will be. But they won’t. And it could be a real emergency. If this is truly late night, it might be, but this is the Luanniverse.

A good sign they are going to be great parents. Years of practice with Shannon.

For cryin’ out loud! Jonah can wait two minutes!

Why did Brad immediately assume this was about Shannon? Jonah could be calling Toni to tell her that something bad has happened with their aunt.

So Toni should just TEXT Jonah back telling him she’s "on duty’ right now, and she’ll get back to him in an hour or so, but if it really is something major involving Shannon, he can text her back with details.

Of course knowing Jonah, he’s probably standing on Toni’s doorstep while he texts. I can see him now, telling Shannon “just wait right here, your Aunt Toni will be right out,” then taking off for his big audition, party, whatever.

Call him and get back to business at hand unless he is texting from the driveway.

Today’s strip may be replaced with another old ‘safe’ one as before in some parts. Can anyone confirm? Toni’s wedding band is there in P3, too.

This is leading to TJ and Shannon plus the married couple trying to live in the same, cramped living space. Kinda like yours, mine and ours. A move to bigger digs may be in the making soon.

Looking at the panel again in the light of day, after I totally woke up for the day I realize that even though they would much rather make love (again it would seem, ah young love) that while Toni says don’t worry about it, since she says Jonah always has an emergency with regard to Shannon, Brad says he is worried about it, and she reluctantly picks up her phone. I have two observations I want to add: first it is clear Toni is totally in love with Brad, and Brad is definitely doing a good job in the lovemaking department (such a lucky former shlump) while Brad shows mature responsibility and concern for Shannon, even when he is about to go off to their special place with the sexiest girl in mainstream comics. So that says a lot, of good things I think, about both of them.

It is urgent that Jonah learn these dance moves before the next theatrical crowd pool party:

Apparently Toni is so used to these calls from Jonah that she has a tendency to flip them off.

Greg (with his aider and abettor Karen) is ever playing with us and frequently comes up with some twist totally unexpected even by our cleverest readers and commenters.

So, just as a possible shocker:

What if Shannon has become seriously ill, enters the hospital, and after some protracted playing on our emotions and sympathy, she dies?

Greg writes her, and Jonah, out of the many-faceted strip and simplifies, for a time, until Brad and Toni start having their own children….

People find sex in everything. Brad and Toni are reading Harry Pawtter under the covers like my grandchildren.

Well, Greg got a little frisky today, but demonstrated the difference between just having sex and making love. Brad’s heart overruled his Id. Not sure that I would have done the same thing.
