Let’s see:

It would be ((12/3)4)-6+((24/2)8) -13 which is

(4*4)-6+(12*8)-13 = 16-6+96-13 = 93

How many of us did it twice? Once just left to right and got 123, then looked up the order of operations (PEMDAS) and re-did it and got 93? Or is that just me? LOL

It’s 93. But I wonder if Guy intended 123. Because I assumed the solution would have some significance.

This gave me a headache. I never got this in school and I don’t get it now. I came up with 113, which is, obviously, (according to the math hero’s here), wrong. It is akin to parsing, which I never completely got either, but did better than math!

I think that should be “diagramming” for the younger generation.

I get 123. I had to do it 4 times.

I’m no good at math. I never got the hang of long number sentences. So I tried it on a calculator just to see what it thought, and got 123. I also had to read it in zoom. When I first saw it in my email, I thought the ‘24 divided by 2’ part said 24 1/2.

I didn’t bother. The answer to everything is 42.

I used to teach 9th grade Algebra and had one girl that could not multiply 5 × 7 without a calculator!

And thus the importance of knowing the order of operations…which I’ve long forgotten.

The calculator app on my iPhone correctly gave an answer of 93.

Standard calculator 123. Scientific Calculator 93. Go figure!

I, too, got 93 here. But since I’m no math whiz, all I know about the subject is that 2 + 2 = 22 …

I really hate math, I will never get that subjet!
