I think 22PH, BLUNEBOTTLE, GWEEDO and NEIL must be right – the mirror shows us what she sees in her mind’s eye. The glasses she intends to use are still on the table and her hair has yet to be curled up in the front. We were just talking about that a couple of days ago with the hearts in her sunglasses – the trick of using physical objects around a character to express to the reader something about the character’s state of mind. Usually I “get” something like that without really thinking about it, but today, this puzzled me. I was about to write “What’s going on with that mirror?” before I read your comments.
Strangely enough, while Sprocket is drawn rather attractively, the images she wants to emulate look quite scary. To me, at least. But then, it’s Halloween…
Sprocket’s hypocrisy is reflected back to her. She’s professes a need to live a hippie’s life and get in touch with mother nature yet at the first taste of affection from someone who seemingly enjoys her company she suddenly desires to turn into a shallow, old school Hollywood starlet! I bet Betty Davis wore shoes.
Silver is, to put it in a hippie kind of way, blowing his cool, man! Meanwhile, Sister Susan is going full-out for a ’40s Look, as she sees her(fully made-up)self in the mirror, with hair big on top-front, perhaps supported by rats (the hair fillers, not the rodents) and long on the side and back. Quick research on the ’net suggests it is most at home ca. 1944 (see Rita Hayworth), modelling herself on the picture of Tes(s?) on her vanity.
What will Silver do? Will he attempt to keep Sprocket from her date by force? Would she tolerate that?

I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for Sprocket, despite all her many flaws. She always seemed a bit like the poor puppy with the bad owner rather than a true villain like Silver.

This probably won’t end well if Tracy or any of the MCU sees her and she hasn’t changed herself enough to be recognized.

In her mind’s eye, she sees herself so differently.

Well I don’t see this going well. Silver’s not exact an understandable person. Also he’s possessive, and manipulative. Careful Sprocket!

Does anyone recognize the woman in the photo Sprocket is emulating? It seems to be captioned too small for my peepers.

Gotta admit, Sprocket looks cute in today’s strip.

Careful there, Silver… you’re acting like a jealous lover.
