You could be stuck someplace where all you can get is leftover, overheated, restaurant-supply coffee,

burnt by sitting for hours on the warmer plate.

I’d bet that’s what is meant here by “swill”….

cos it’s a stock feature of teacher’s lounges and gas station convenience marts.

Strangely, while Mallett may mean for Mr. Spaetzle’s comment to make no sense,

I actually agree with it.

Coffee like that has only a burnt taste left, and some acid and bitterness.

Cover it with a lid, and that’s all you get.

But a large part of what we call “flavor” is actually aroma…

and the faint coffee scent that remains in the ruined beverage, left uncovered, helps make it taste,

at least, to paraphrase Douglas Adams, almost but not quite like coffee.

Sorry guys, I do like a regular Coke now and then… but without phony fruit flavoring.

I dislike all artificial sweeteners, and now they say they’re worse for your health than sugar.

Meanwhile…

yesterday people were inquiring, speculating and opining about the whereabouts of bigpuma…

but it didn’t look like anyone actually did any digging.

I Googled up his profile and discovered that he made one comment, about a month ago,

but all the previous ones were two months ago.

I clicked on the links to the strips where he’d made them, and couldn’t find them in those forums

I surmise that he was banned, probably two months ago, and made one comment a month ago to re-test the situation.

Currently, when you’ve been banished, your comments are visible to everybody looking at your profile page.

And you still see them in the forums, as long as you’re logged in….

but no one else can… nor can you, if you log out.

My best guess is that’s the situation with him.

For cellphone users who are annoyed with GoComics new left/right flip feature, which I keep tripping over, email them and tell them. I did but didn’t get a satisfactory answer. If more complain, maybe they’ll remove this unnecessary feature.

First, Mr Spaetzle is right about the aroma/taste sensation. Second, where did she learn to use ‘swill’ as a casual term of conversation?

I liked the sippy cup part of this conversation. When I taught kids I used to tell my students that my travel mug was a grown up sippy cup. Coffee makers use a thermos more often now. Less burning on the hotplate and less fires from coffee makers being left on.You cola drinkers, I’ll leave you in peace. If you set aside a can for me, y’all can share it among yourselves

You can ruin many shirts that way.

Mr. Spaetzel should wear dark solid colors. Something darker than the coffee stains make.

You have to open your travel mug in order to sip from it, so, just take a sniff before sipping!
