Oddly enough, the only one who seems to act objectively so far is Jacob. The “unarmed protestors” were going to cause more damage not by burning houses, but by setting a precedent, that such course of action would be tolerated. In a society, where the primary objective is still to survive, the last thing you’d want is to invite more such groups to form. Have we seen any unmutated humans so far? Maybe Foxworthy’s crusade against Jacob is rooted in something we haven’t witnessed yet.
“Luke, you’re going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.” Post mortem wisdom from long ago and far, far away. ;-)
“Check your bias, Penny!! You’re a journalist! It’s your job to stay objective!!” Maybe it used to be when old farts like Murrow were around but those days are well behind us…big reason why I got out of that game. Good one, Aaron! Started my morning with a laugh.
it’s very common to assume your own position is the default objective truth, this is why it’s important to listen AND report other people’s points of view if you wish to remain objective, especially in the media.
Foxworthy is unaware that his employee Eve (the giraffe) is spying for someone and knows about his meetings with Cooper. Cooper reports to Velda’s friend, so I’m assuming Eve is Jacob’s spy, not Velda’s friend’s. Cooper told Foxworthy that they have to take Jacob down with either bullets or bulletins. Bulletins don’t seem to be working too well, so after Jacob’s police actions, it looks like they’re going to switch to bullets. But if Eve is spying for Jacob, he’ll be ready for them.
Those “unarmed protesters” had attacked Heather Hoss from behind, disturbed the peace with their infernal howling, attacked an officer less than half their height, destroyed Heather’s shop, rioted outside a courtroom, murdered an attorney in front of witnesses, drove Heather to suicide and paraded her corpse through the streets.
And let’s not forget that this story arc started with two “unarmed” wolves decided to chase down a pig who just wanted to go on a quiet jog. Good thing Portia was “armed” with pepper spray.
It’s only because of Jacob and his “psychotic thugs” that Philo was able to walk the streets and make his appointment last night. Otherwise, he’d still be hiding in his apartment just like everyone else. No one would even be working today!
He told Dottie she was “too close” and that she had “lost her objectivity”. Looks like the pot is calling the kettle black.
Phil Foxworthy had better be careful in his desire to undo Jacob. The pen may be mightier than the sword, but trafficking in deliberate lies in the name of journalism could be the sword point that Phil falls on in the misuse of his pen.
It’s kind off grim how pretty much everyone with any degree of power involved in this seems to be doing nothing but behaving appallingly – Jacob does nothing about the pigs murders but orders the mass-killing of his own people, the court is a complete sham, the wolves were saturated with monstrous assholes who fell for Lucas and his supremacist garbage, and the news organizations split into violent propaganda and a conscious bid to undermine leadership rather than having any focus on the truth.
I’m half-expecting this arc to end with the camera zooming out to show it’s all playing on a projector, and then some Topsider says to the class ‘…And this is why mutants are fucking savages and need to go.’

…for a rather odd value of “objective”. Or, given the state of mainstream media these days, not so odd… :/

Speaking of which, are you following that guy who’s going to launch a rocket proving the Earth is flat?

Could Foxworthy approach Jackrabbit for an exclusive, tell-all interview? Getting the message from the source could help a lot.
