And the THWUMP landing is deliberate, probably worth extra points in the 2am running of the cats :)
Good to see Lupin is hydrating and stretching before racing, it’s important for a well run race. I use a baby gate at the top of the stairs on the back deck. Before I finished putting the netting up to complete the kitty barrier, Dean eyed it up and hopped over it in a single effortless jump :)
We put up a gate at the top of our steep stairs to keep the puppy(long grown up now)from falling down the stairs…our Motley Crew Kitties pole vaulted over it then claw/climbed down n up the stair guard rail…Amazing feat for our furry felines
Ah yes, hurdles. An inevitable consequence of the Baby becoming mobile. The People just don’t understand that they should have erected them long ago for the benefit and amusement of the cats. (They’re a little slow like that). But, the hurdles are up now, and that’s what’s important.
My kitten jumps lightly enough, but she runs with the heaviest feet I’ve ever heard on a cat. She gallops like a horse, “thu-dump thu-dump thu-dump”. She reminds me of Lupin in that way.
She’s also a Lupin-like adventurer. She jumps in the fridge, climbs in the dishwasher, and generally makes a nuisance of herself. She’s slowly developing an immunity to the water sprayer – send help!
Our youngest loves the high balance bar aka the log beams over the greatroom. So far at least he hasn’t attempted a mid beam dismount but he rivals Puck in climbing ability.
we seem to be stuck at the 8,179 followers (+/-) for quite a while now. If we all share with at least 1 more person, we should get to 10,000 pretty quickly. we should also make sure we tell the newbies there is a book that they can buy, so the publisher demands that a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th book be forthcoming!! And then when the tv people see the books flying off the shelves, they’ll demand that there be animated holiday specials made. So c’mon BCN fans, in the words of Lupin, “let’s do this”!
I’ve always had both cats AND dogs, so baby gates are necessary to keep dogs from eating the cats’ food and raiding the litter box (they love that Kitty Roca). Currently, I have only one of each, and my almost-10-year-old cat clears the gates easily and seems to enjoy doing it. It’s part of his exercise routine when he’s in the midst of one of those cat frenzies (not 2:00 a.m., but usually right after we get up in the morning), and he goes back and forth over the two gates for no other purpose than jumping.
I tried hurdles for a while. Silly me I didn’t know they were hurdles. I thought they might be a barrier for the dog. NOPE. The Weimaraner wanted to show how athletic he was and would jump over the hurdle repeatedly and smile at me. Then I had this brainstorm that I would stack one on top of the other and make it double the height. The dog could actually be heard laughing as he easily cleared both hurdles and never even grazed the top bar. SIGH. The cats were not amused and squeezed between the wall and the mesh.
No hurdles in our house – just the racetrack. It starts at the front door, takes a sharp right thru the den, then a left to the end of the hallway. They make a 180 turn and head for the home stretch down the entire hall making the final left turn at the corner. The general starting time is about 8 PM, once Brad is sound asleep. I always find 5 or six toys at the front door. I guess this is where they award themselves medals.
When I still had 2 cats, the older female would just walk between the bars while the younger tom would jump over it. Now I have just one cat, and he prefers for me to open the gate for him.
Why is it the tinier & slenderer the kitty, the LOUDER they thump & thunder? We once had a tiny, midget kitty who barely cracked 4 lbs. who could wake the dead with her itty-bitty toesies. Big kitties flitted around on feathers! >^.,.^<

The question is, can the baby get over the hurdles?

Hopefully there is no one in the first floor apartment at the moment.

“Let’s do this!” I love that line! Lupin is in great form! Although his landing lacks a bit in grace. He’s certainly akin to a Shetland pony!

Is Puck in his Lederhosen? It looks more like a hoodie. I don’t see his hat, either.

You’ve got to love Lupin’s infectious enthusiasm even in the face of past THWUMPS.

It always makes me chuckle whenever I see Elvis checking his watch! Wish I had more of Lupin’s enthusiasm for exercise, I’d be a whole lot healthier.

Good morning and happy Thursday, BCN orbsters and orbabies. That was quite a THWUMP! Lupin didn’t quite nail that landing, did he?

My kitty gallops up and down the apartment hallway, and then yowls, as though she doesn’t know where I am? I eventually get pounced upon—oof!
