No, I guessed right about Locher making a personal appearance in the strip–but panel #3 shows too much information about his private life.

And his real name is Dick Chainy.

“Hi, my name is Leo Pinko, ACLU lawyer. The constitutional rights of my client, Doctor Mordred, have been violated by the way he has been chained up and hooded like a rabid werewolf. Mordred is still a human being and is entitled to basic human dignity. How can he take care of his everyday needs such as using a bathroom? What’s that? Oh, Dick Tracy is going to be his official wiper? Then it’s OK with me. See ya later, judge.”

Yeah, ‘cause this dreck that we see every day is “productive use.”

If productive use is the litmus test, Tribune should have lost all rights to the franchise a long time ago.

Panel-Panner, I can’t find anything recent about Beatty’s suit. The whole matter may be in abeyance because TMS is still in Chapter XI protection.

Youre killing time Locher. Cut it out and get to the point. Or are we going to sit here and read about how lethal and feared this man is until the New Year?

You’d think the FBI could dig up a set of handcuffs, instead of borrowing Locher’s private toys.

What is the point in saying that the killer has “no motives?” Locher has shown a weird obsession with motives, so is this going to be the plot driver? The FBI needs Thick to figure out his motives? “We have witnesses, and video tapes, and forensic evidence, and his confession, so we can prove what he did and how he did it, but he’ll get off if we can’t explain why he did it!”

This is a good change from all those stories we usually see here about killers with compassion and a heart. NOT!

What’s amazing is that Dr. Mordred is the most hated person in the US, but Thick hasn’t heard about his arrest. Why do Thick and Horn Hair chatter about things they already know, when they should discuss why the FBI wants Thick and the sudden albeit welcome disappearance of Testicle Chin?

I have a feeling that is what is going to happen. Maybe even beyond the New Year.

the big problem with this particular serial killer is that he has no compassion, heart or remorse? he’d be an okay guy otherwise? that’s the reason he’s the most hated person in the U.S.? (except that tracy of course never heard of him until liz filled him in.)

How does no kin get in there? That doesn’t make someone a bad person.

Ah, so you are supposed to believe–but Locher slips in panel two, when Tracy, who supposedly knows nothing of the evil Dr. Mordred, volunteers the info that he has no heart. How does Macy know this? Obviously, he and Mordred have history together… like maybe Mordred was the bully on Macy’s second-grade playground, dispensing wedgies without compassion (or heart)…

Re motives–maybe we should stop wondering about the good doctor’s, and inquire as to those of the police. My prediction: while they have a circumstantial (and perhaps even circumcisional) case against Mordred, they need an actual witness to a crime to guarantee a conviction. So they plan to toss an expendable body into the cell with him and videotape the resulting carnage. But which expendable body? The D-cubed series demonstrated that the FBI, CIA, etc., are modestly competent, and neither Horn Hair nor Testicle Chin are dumb enough to step into the cell with the killer. Which leaves….

All of these statements - no remorse, no kin etc - will be either ignored or contradicted by Dec 20th. This strip needs a fast forward button.

We’re only four days into this story, and already there’s nothing Locher can do to redeem it. Why call a local police detective in after the killer is already caught and in jail?

Admitted, this is the only way Tracy can’t screw it up….

No, Thick! You are wrong! HOME DEPOT loves him! Looks like they sold out of chain on him. Macy had better change his attitude about the good doctor; they are fixing to go on a Honeymoon, and guess who’s gonna be Mrs. Mordred?

If anybody asked me, I’d say that compassion and heart are the same thing.

BillThompson, Dick hasnt heard of his arrest because he was too busy running in fear from common criminals and avoiding newspapers. Dick should just walk in the FBI room, see Dr Mordred and run for cover thereby ending this horrible arc. Because lets be honest, this isnt going to get any better.

Dr, Midnight this was doomed from Day 1! Now we will spend the next 2 weeks rehashing all this.and just maybe by Christmas Tracy will finally find out what the bleep he is suppose to help the FBI (Federal Bureau of Idiots)!

He got his Doctorate along with Dr. Dre. Same school, and both attained the honor of Magna C. Laude. The graduation speech (sermon) was delivered by none other than Pimp C. (the bleeper bleeped the middle word of the honorary award)

Aren’t net nannies fun? They’re just machines and can’t tell the difference between a real naughty word and a word that isn’t naughty in the context but would be elsewhere.

Mordred must be some tough guy if he has to be chained like that. About having no kin: If by chance Locher brought him to today’s time from the King Arthur times, he wouldn’t have living relatives. None from his time, at any rate. He had no offspring in the original story, so he’s pretty much alone.

Maybe Doctor Mordred, is the ghost of Christmas past with all the chains looking for Scrooge.

Maybe he’s into the “bondage” thing. S&M. Macy will have fun being his cellmate. Macy asks Dr. Mordrid, “You think they’ll let me bring my mousetraps?”

I figure Mordred’s full academic credentials must read “Mordred, BS, Ph. D,” because this BS will get Piled Higher & Deeper.

I can’t wait for Locher to contradict everything that is known about the behavior and psychology of serial killers. The bad Doctor will have a gang, will vary his technique and choose wildly different types of victims. He’ll be highly educated and wear a distinctive costume. He’ll be an escape artist because that’s what Hannibal Lecter did.

I’d suggest that the FBI wants Thick to offer advice on how to hold and interrogate a criminal; they want it because they realize Thick’s advice will be so cabbage-head stupid that reversing it will give them what they really need to know. However that would require Locher to admit that Thick is utterly incompetent.

No remorse, no motives, no kin, no compassion, no heart – but does he have any CHAINS? He could open a hardware store! Or a medieval dungeon museum – with a gift shop. There’s good money in that….

mordred has far more compassion for his victims than locher does for his readers, so whom is more dreded

Eventually the weekly revelation will be that Mordred tortures his victims to death by forcing them to read two of Locher’s daily strips at one sitting. He’d make it three strips and a Sunday page, but that would be too quick.

Do they really need all those heavy chains? If Dr. Mordred is confined to a cell, why does he need such as that? Or, wouldn’t handcuffs do the job? If he’s already been captured, why does the FBI require Dick Tracy’s assistance? Perhaps Agent Ennen told them about Tracy’s heroic feats when they were trapped in the Tiger’s cage!
