… haters will be haters (why would an artist even want to read the vile comments section? ), but I have never seen so much noise coming from the Nancy crowd…
Considering these strips are done weeks in advance (and I’ll defer to the experts how long that is), I like the fact that Olivia is nailing the reaction of naysayers in the comments almost perfectly. The strips have been good… and the comments just as entertaining, albeit in a different sort of way. I’m assuming that Olivia’s first Sunday comic is due either this week or next. Looking forward to hearing how that effort will again be the last straw for those who are no longer able to accept change.
I love the new Nancy but I do fear that Olivia is engaging a little too much with the naysayers. Let the rabble throw their rocks from the side of the road as your roadster speeds right by them. You’re down the path, they’re still on the side of the road.
I thought this was a good gag – the best one so far. I wish this strip had launched with this instead of the cornbread episode which to this day I do not understand. But please, if you are too lazy to hand letter your work and use a computer instead, are there really no programs in 2018 that can take care of letter kerning for you? The word “STAY” looks ridiculous with all that space around the A.
I really enjoy the comedic twist in the last panel. That panel is what cinches my deep appreciation for the work of Olivia Jaimes. For me, there is a wonderful depth to the words that Olivia has written, and even though it has only been a very short time since her stories of Nancy have appeared, I now eagerly await each new one for the interesting and thought-provoking ideas she will bring to us.
Please do not get me wrong… there were nice things about Mr. Gilchrist’s work too. The stories had a gentle, sweet sentimentality much of the time. That can be a very good thing too…. but for me the gentle, sweet sentimentality did not work all the time because I was less fond of Mr. Gilchrist’s drawing style (I know several others really liked it, but for me it was a bit garish.) and so Nancy became only an occasional read through the last few years.
Today’s rating: a mild ha-ha but the graphic style still leaves much to desired. Ten more days to see if this customer keeps buying or leaves the store.

Nancy’s been watching too much TV and too many movies I think.

Nancy’s time is running out on my “saved comic page”. This strip is not charming nor funny.

For the first time since the new cartoonist took over the strip made me chuckle. Hope it continues. Give them a chance.

What we need is pollen “reimagined” so that it cures allergies rather than triggers them.

I love reboots but Nancy is correct about spring, it’s a scourge on the eyes and noses of humanity
