On the topic of cats and slippery floors:A lot of our floors are tiled, and we have some small mats on them. When they are used as take-off ramps or landing pads they get pushed out of place and crumpled up.
When I was about 15, my mother saw me roll Millicent (long gone) onto her back, put my hand on her chest, and push her so that she slip a couple of yards across the lino. My mother was just about to shout “What are you doing to that poor cat?”, when she saw Millicent get up and walk back to me so that I could do it again.
I love how Elvis is spinning on his back like a top. His pose in panel two, especially, is so darling – all his little claws are out, but in the wrong direction!
Everyone know that Puck can run on linoleum, but with the added burden of pushing Elvis, he can’t get traction! But he would never just leave Elvis to his fate. They will either be saved together or go down together. (Dramatic music here) Will Indiana Lupin be able to buy them enough time for the former? Stay tuned, dear readers, for the next installment of . . . (Reverb) BREAKING CAT NEWS!
And now a word from our sponsors: “Who doesn’t need more cute enamel pins in their life? Look below for our limited time offer of Breaking Cat News pins. That’s right! It looks like our heroic Indiana Lupin is also channeling Bruce Lee this morning! Anything to help his friends evade the vacuum cleaner. Woman, how could you chase your good boys onto the linoleum with that infernal machine?
Wow, did I ever have it wrong. In my imagination, I had Lupin saving Elvis by racing in and head butting him to safety like from the laundry room. Georgia, this is so much better and why you’re in the papers and not me. Besides the fact that i can’t draw a stick figure and tell a story well. Keeping everyone who needs it in prayer today.
Vacuuming around Figaro – me: pushing vacuum around and heading towards Figgie, Fig: stares at it, stares at me, goes back to whatever he was doing.
Me: pushing vacuum right up to Figgie, ask him to move, Fig: looks at it, stares at me, goes back to what he was doing.
Me: seriously Figgles move, Fig: looks at it, stares at me, gives a tortured sigh and eye roll, moves over a few feet with the the peeved look only cats can do
This usually repeated several times until Figs got annoyed enough to leave the room occasionally slapping the vacuum (just the once) as he went. Really miss my boo, he was such a character :)
Almost every time I see Lupin do heroic things the music to Indiana Jones fills my head! Very loudly, may I add! So Indiana Lupin music while he saves the day… and the music keeps going, even after I am done with the comic… not bad.
You know, BCN is lovely, sweet, and a delight, especially to those of us who recognize cats we’ve known in the various characters. I really hope that the strip earns Georgia and her family a big chunk of money—if it does, ’twon’t be fast, methinks. But I’m certainly thankful I know of it and have it to read every day.

Team Effort! Courageous Lupin hurls his body between his friends and the Evil Menace. The vacuum will not triumph wherever brave cats make a stand.

Maybe Elvis will claw that ugly linoleum enough that the People will have to replace it.

What?! I thought linoleum was a safe-zone! Is that one of those vacuums that does bare floors, too?!

As Sheryl Crow might put it:
This ain’t Ikea
This ain’t no lazy boy
This is the red couch
That’s true, that’s true
“All I wanna do is save my friends from the evil vac”
Says the brave cat on the floor who appeared out of nowhere
It’s apropos of everything!
He says “My name is Lupin”
But it should be Indiana or Luke or Han
That vac is plain ugly to me
But it looks like he has fun his whole life!
!!!!!!!!
He is batting at the vac before noon on a Friday
Right behind him are his two best friends,
The good kitties just wanted to fix the couch the vac had swept
Sleepin’ and sheddin’ as best they can with the fur they have,
Pucky and Elvis are trying to run across the linoleum floor
Back to the couch and carpeting too,
But no problem ’cause Lupin says:
!!!!!!!
“What I’m gonna do is fight that vac,
I’ve got a feeling the cats will all be back
What I’m gonna do is fight that vac,
And when I’m done we can all chill and relax,
What I’m gonna do is fight that vac,
Until the windows are open and we can sleep in the sun."
