Did Calvin toss The binoculars up in the air, they fell and hit the sidewalk, and then bounced into a meat grinder?

OK, I confess I laughed out loud at this one.

Okay…how is this even possible?

Calvin ran down a sidewalk, tossed the binoculars up into the air, and they disintegrated upon hitting the ground?! What were those binoculars even made of?!

Fixing this one should be easy. Right?

“My dad owns a TV repair shop, we can fix it!!!”

If you don’t want someone to sneeze, don’t pour out a box of dust in front of them, Cal!

Suddenly I can hear “Dust in the Wind” playing somewhere.

Oh yeah, no prob. A little Elmer’s will fix that right up, good as new!

This always confused me as a kid, because I couldn’t comprehend “artistic license in the name of comedy” and kept wondering just HOW he did that much damage.

Duct tape can fix anything!

Better yet, take it to one of those repair shops that brag about, “We can fix anything!”

Take it to one of those new places called “U Break, I Fix”. They are actually quite good!

There will not be much help!!

Haven’t I seen those in a movie lately? It was Marvel-ous.

I once had a large zoom lens hit the concrete. About a 3’ fall. It only bent an extended lens hood. Calvin must have been dribbling the binoculars.

The whole thing must have been made of glass to make that pile of bits.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, his father is doing the pee-pee dance while laughing so hard he isn’t making any noise.

Since they’re unidentifiable, if I were Calvin I would claim the binoculars are just lost

I didn’t see this coming, Calvin had the binoculars cremated.

I don’t know about the case, but the lenses were already ground.

Just blow on it to spread the dust and pretend nothing happened. Dad will be searching for a long time but Calvin has plausible deniability.

Where in the world did this kid drop it? A wood chipper?!

They were worth only about $1.35.

Next time Calvin try catching something breakable with your hands instead of your feet while running.

This was always my favorite strip of the binoculars storyline. My laughter is usually pretty subdued when I read Calvin & Hobbes, but as a kid I busted a gut laughing when I saw the fate of the binoculars, to the point my parents asked what was wrong with me.

Geez, did they blow up or something?

The Doc from the-whiteboard.com has fixed paintball guns (markers) in worse shape than that many times.

wouldn’t the Transmogrifier work to re-create the binoculars? C’mon Calvin, THINK!
