A sweater to the beach?

Is this what I’ve missed being single all my life?

Okay, HowTheDuck, any comments on Elly’s outfit today? Not only is is blue instead of purple, I think she looks classy and darling. Her hair looks especially nice.

The first and LAST time that I was MADE to go to the mall, it took 30 min. before my wife handed me $100.00 and told me to go to the bar at the exit and she’d pick me up when she was ready. The taxi home cost most of it.

Who wears a sweater to the beach?

We’re kind of the reverse of this. I don’t “dress” my husband, but wouldn’t dream of going clothes shopping without him. He has an incredible eye for cut and color; and besides that, he enjoys it. Even our daughters will ask his opinion on accessorizing before asking me!

I never had a Ken doll, either! Maybe, my parents thought it was a bad influence.

Lynn’s Notes:

My partner hates to shop for clothing. If I am lucky enough to steer him into a men’s wear store, I have to be careful not to be too enthusiastic, too desperate or too demanding. A few weeks ago, we were successfully collecting things for him to wear on a Mexican vacation. Miserable, he had tried on shorts, shirts and two pairs of light pants. Some of these were going to work!

As I waited outside the changing room, I could hear him mumbling about the music. It was the awful boomf-boomf you hear everywhere; the kind with a wailing auto-tuned voice and repeated lyrics, repeated percussion. Suddenly, he burst out of the cubicle and sprinted for the exit door. I ran after him with the clothing and he told me to leave it all behind. “What’s wrong?” I hollered as he headed for the car. “I can’t stand the music any longer!” he cried. “It’s driving me crazy!”

It had been driving me crazy, too. As we drove away without our purchase, I wondered who in the world chooses that awful music, and if anyone had done a study on the economic loss to retail shops, bars and restaurants since this stuff began to “stream”!

I have left an Applebee’s because of the loud music they play as “background” music. I first asked if they could turn it down because we couldn’t have a decent conversation at out table, and I was told that they couldn’t. It was permanently set for different times of the day. I even talked to the manager, who said he would look into it. We agreed among us to leave that day.

I just wish my wife were still here to fuss over me.

My husband would not try on a piece of clothing in a store to save his life! (or nakedness) He wouldn’t even buy any for himself. To him, it’s a complete waste of his time. He sends me. Smart move…I have excellent taste in clothing. Conservative clothing…. ; )

After John is done, Ellie gets to buy new clothes to match his outfits. The fun never ends.

Am I the only one who thinks the on-going “slim cut” in men’s suits is rather silly? They appear as if the clothes are too tight and/or the wrong size. Some of them really look rather like spiders. I think the fellows on the telly may wear what’s given to them. So what’s next? Perhaps back to knickers and long stockings a la the 18th century? I’m jes sayin’ … =^..^=

My wife did have a Ken doll, and if she’s any indication, it was an extremely effective way of getting rid of the impulse driving Ellie forever.

Some of us are clothes horses and some aren’t. Often your work (like John’s) sort of defines it. My standard work clothes were jeans, a long-sleeve shirt, and not-too-stylish safety shoes.

John isn’t being fair. If men can’t or won’t dress themselves, women have to do it for them.

I always made Barbie & Ken have sex, so I never saw the need to dress either of them.

I really hate shopping for clothes. If it wasn’t for my wife and scenes like the one in the cartoon, I would look like a real bum. When I was young and dating; there was a older man who worked at an upscale men’s clothing store who gave me good advise about dressing.

John’s name just became Ken.

I am so glad to have a career that allows for scrubs and Aloha shirts with the slacks.

I cannot say I enjoy shopping for clothes but I certainly don’t avoid it. I do help my wife shop and I find her quite a few outfits that she’d usually not look at but, once tried on, work great for her.For myself, I usually look at the discount/clearance racks.
