Why are the owners home? Is this a Canadian thing? In the US, the RE Agent would bring Phil and Georgia to see the house and the owners should be OUT. The idea is so the potential buyers can envision themselves living there. When the owners are there, it feels like you are intruding on someone else’s property. Same goes for leaving family pictures on display. It’s then “someone ELSE’S home”. Not YOURS.
We once looked at a house and the elderly woman that owned it not only was there but followed us around and kept saying that she “was watching us to make sure that weren’t gonna steal anything”. I told the realtor later ‘good luck selling that place’
I don’t know if it’s still common, but years ago in England when we were house hunting, the agent never left his/her desk. Just phoned the owner and arranged for a viewing. Money for old rope!
I’ve heard of sellers moving their stuff to a storage area, and then bring a bunch of stylish furniture from “rent a center” to make the house more appealing! I once looked at a house where one corner of the kitchen was one foot lower than the others – foundation problem?
When we looked at our present house, 40+ years ago, the owners were at home, and not only that, since they had a new baby, the sink was full of soaking diapers. As you can tell, that didn’t deter us, because the location was perfect for our daughter’s school bus pickup, since it was on the main route, she would be picked up from home, and we didn’t have to go a bus stop. The school made the bus stop at out house, and we had 7 other children coming here to be picked up and the other parents liked it too, since in the winter or in rain they could wait on the porch.

The horrified look on Phil’s face in the final panel tells you he is thinking, “Please don’t let me see his mother naked! Please…Please…Please.”

I was looking for a house and one had a toilet that was sinking into the floor.

That happen to my parents in the early 1950s. They were just about to give up, but decided to look at one last house.

Uh oh, Phil had another case of hyperthyroidism. At least Georgia was OK this time.

While house hunting we found a house that appeared to fit our needs, but the yapping dog next door caused us to quickly turn around and leave.
