The day Sam’s eyes changed was the day a part of me died. She was such an innocent, adorable child, and I hoped she would keep her eyes the way her mom did.
I am a firm believer in the theory that the part of the brain, if it is the prefrontal cortex or whatever, that makes intelligent decisions does not physically grow or form until the mid 20’s in most and never is some. This is based on not only my observations of teen-agers and young adults but also of my friends and my own experiences. How I am still living is a miracle. As Martina McBride sang it must have been Wild Angels looking over me and also my friends.
I’m actually a little disappointed that GT was non-political this week. We can’t hide our heads in the sand. When we get a less extreme political situation again I will go along with ignoring politics a little bit. That situation is not now. The GOP is counting on the idea that other voices will stay quiet due to the exhaustion of our current chaotic political climate.
The view out the window looks more typical of what Mike and Kim would see out their window. But they are on opposite sides of the country. BD and Boopsie live in New England, and still work for Walden College, right?
Unlike B.D., I was always the first to know everything with my daughter – sometimes much more than I wanted to know ! My daughter would tell me everything !
She still, at age 44 confides in me. I tease her that I never sure if I’m blessed or cursed that she’s always been so open with me….
I don’t think the reason some still complain about the election of 2016 has anything to do with the prefrontal cortex and everything to do with the fact that there were Russian spies colluding with members of the trump campaign in an act of treason. 12 of these Russian spies were indicted this week. If the shoe were on the other foot, Republicans would want a lot more than attention in a comic strip. They would want Hillary Clinton’s head on a platter.
Many decades ago, I was stationed in Germany in the “snail mail” days. I wrote home diligently at least once a week, usually twice. Then a time came when I had a short trip to the states after not writing for about six or seven weeks. When I arrived, I called home and started to apologize profusely to my mother for being out of contact. She said, “That’s all right, honey. What’s her name and when do we get to meet her?”
I see a couple of trolls have arrived in reply to my saying that an expression against trump was ok with me in this strip. Per usual, they are very low level in their abilities.

B.D. is aware of where he is on the pecking order when it comes to his daughter’s personal life.

Apropos of nothing – I’d rather have a free bottle in front of me, than a pre-frontal lobotomy…

Why does Boopsie look like she’s strung out?

Amazingly astute observation. Trust your sergeant.

Why does Boopsie look strung out?? Really??? She has a good looking teenage daughter and she (Boopsie) is no longer the clueless bimbo from 1970.

Love the way the objects on the counter and the notes/photos on the refrigerator change in each panel.

Maybe a drill sergeant. I hear that drill sergeants know how to satisfy.

A couple of years ago there was a strip where Sam interacted with a cute, gender-fluid person. Wonder if Trudeau is going to pursue that?

A non-political comic that was humorous. Nice for a change.

You can transplant a prefrontal cortex for better impulse control. But it appears John Kelly suffered organ rejection.

A Sunday comic without some carping about Trump? GT must be losing it.

Boopsie’s always been wide-eyed but…maybe she just drank a LOT of coffee this particular morning…or maybe Hunk-Ra’s about to make an appearance!

Thats the difference between Inquisitive and Nosy:
Inquisitive wants to know if Life Is Good.
Nosy wants to know “With Whom?”

Why the automatic assumption that the object of her affection is a “he”?
Kids these days . . . she’s just as likely to fall for a “her”, a “they”, or something entirely different!
Wake up and smell the 21st century!
