I can’t find something so I go buy another. When I am through, I decide where to put it where I will be sure to find it next time. I place it THERE, right beside the previous six.

Everything is in its place. I just don’t know where that place is.

Been there. The other day I spent 2 hours looking for a tool I needed to do a 5 minute job. I found it in its place.

I know THAT feeling. And why do I always have 3 of the wrong one, and none of the right one?…

Charlie: That’s why I hate sets of whatever! 2 sizes, maybe 3 you might use; the others, worthless space-hogs to go thru looking for whatever. Is this what retired life all about?

I love the comments. It seems we all share the same kind of work space.

Perhaps I am a little OCD, but at least I know where everything is all the time.

Current house does not have enough places! One-car garage vs three-bayer at the previous house.

It’s usually her fault, she moved the “place”! I speak from personal experience.

I have four sons, all above the age of 12. I just look for the tool I need in the last place it should be. Just found my 3/8" torque wrench in the guest bathroom. Why?

I am far from the most organized person. Husband, though… “Where is X?” X being something of his. “How should I know.” NO really, where it is it." “What did you last use it for?” (Explanation follows – of ten it is a game to figure out what he means he used it for. ) ’Have you looked for it at Y?" Oh, there it is. (or more often – “If I bend over to look there you know I will be sick. Can you look for me?” I estimate I can find 90% of my stuff, 85% of our joint stuff and 80% of his stuff within 5 minutes.

In late middle age, my father once complained to me of “Senior Moments,” because he couldn’t ever find the tool he had had in his hand five minutes ago.

“Dad,” said I, “I’m not going to try to convince you you’re not having ‘senior moments,’ but I’m here to tell you that you’ve been looking for tools at least since 1969.”
