Miss Wheeler, you may be asking the wrong group.

1- Go for small amounts from people who appreciate who you are and what you want to accomplish.

2- Go crazy on social media, especially twitter.

3- Establish a ground game. Knock on doors; hold town halls; get Willie Nelson to do a concert for you.

Reminds me of the “Family Guy” scene where Lois runs for office. She tries to be reasonable and to act qualified, but no one cares, so she just repeats “9-11” multiple times. The people love this, and she is elected.

I think GT has this all wrong. It’s the do-gooders who prattle on about service and the common good and giving back that have messed up everything. Or at least that’s the front they put on to hide their power-lusting, rapacious selves.

Technology marches on. If people have finally figured out that responding directly to a troll simply serves to elevate the troll’s comment to the top of the list as the “featured” one, why then the trolls will just take to replying to their own comments to achieve the same effect. Ain’t progress grand?

Make sure you also explain what “accountability” means as well; tends to go hand-in-hand with responsibility.

In terms of the Kavanaugh allegation, if you or someone you know was a rape victim or if you endured attempted rape, you would not care about the age of the rapist. The age of the perpetrator is immaterial. We already have one criminal on the scotus of the United States, Clarence Thomas. When Anita Hill spoke decades ago about her experience she was treated horribly. Though her experience has been vindicated, Thomas still sits on the scotus. We are in 2018, it is now time to realize we need to move past minimizing the pain of those who have endured sexual abuse. We deserve better on the scotus. This is a lifetime appointment, someone who could potentially ruin many lives for generations to come. I know the GOP wants to ram this nomination through, but others have many legitimate concerns about this man. Those who protested Kavanaugh were concerned about their very lives, possibly going back to no coverage for preexisting conditions, no access to birth control or abortion, and the possibility of this man specifically having been chosen to give the potus ultimate power, by taking away the checks and balances which are needed to keep the executive branch in check. What is the rush to get this lifetime appointment judge hearing over with?

Trump hasn’t been seen in days. In the PR picture they released for him he looks just vacant. They say that he is so mentally unstable right now that he isn’t leaving his room.

He has yet to publicly acknowledge the Florence-related deaths.

@Millennials: you are on the cusp of becoming the nation’s largest living adult generation and thus the largest age-based voting bloc. By voting in the coming election you may either help fix some of the nation’s greatest problems or become one of the nation’s greatest problems. Melissa Wheeler is one of you, a millennial. She has chosen to help fix some of the nation’s greatest problems. So become a “Melissa”, vote in 2018 and remember: All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. PS: for those of you who thought that I was going rip Trump again, I just did.

Kavanaugh’s accuser has now stepped forward publicly. She is a professor at Pablo Alto, Ca. She says she feared he would kill her. She was damaged emotionally for years. This is not uncommon in sexual assault cases.

Conservative pundit Michael Gerson: “Any political movement is defined, not just by what it aspires to, but by whom it excludes. And the alt-right, the Alex Jones right, the white nationalist right, know that they are fully included in Trump’s definition of his movement. They have become experts in tacking to the shifting winds of his whims. They know that their loyalty to him has been rewarded with a legitimacy they have craved for decades. And they are full, enthusiastic partners in the Trump project – to delegitimize any source of authority and information but his own.Back in the world of actual morality, there is serious collateral damage. Congressional Republicans are further tainted by their association with right-wing extremism. Genuine populists are discredited by consorting with people who accuse elites of arming for mass murder. The religious right is caught in bed with a diseased, seeping moral relativism. And Fox anchors come to the defense of a man who verbally defiles the graves of murdered children. In spite of attempts at utilitarian justification – in spite of outrage-dulling repetition – this is not normal or moral. It will never be normal or moral.”

I don’t know whether the discussion so far hit the point. I understand that our candidate is throwing out the usual buzzwords like “accountability”, “greater good” and “service”, and meets people to which this already means nothing. I understood, that this is intended irony… the usual lying of politicians gets worthless with such people because they are even worse, and you can only misuse moral values with people really having them.
