Made my grandson practice for 2 weeks casting into a bucket before he ever got near the water ,little boy hit the bucket on the second try at when he said he was ready and he was I was proud of him, first two fish caught or keeper bass

It just looks like a reel mess to me.

Just stringing us along.

Yesterday someone said “Old Man and the Sea.” I’d go with that.

If he walks around with a wry smile, could he be “The Catcher In The Rye”?

A River Runs Through It

Considering the multiple conflicting images in my brain, I’ll wait it out.

I would guess at this point, Norman Maclean, author of a “River Runs Through It”.

Although I would prefer Ernest Hemingway…. and “Old Man and the Sea”.

And, I think Frazz is a tuxedoed “Big Bird” from Sesame Street… the fellow who was Big Bird just retired a week or two ago, I believe.

All Ms Google gave me was an early novel by sr conan doyle. It mentions pulling up some tangled fishing lines.

It’s not really a costume. He just went fishing and got really clumsy.

And now the guessing can begin in earnest. Yesterday I was trying to hide the fishing pole, both in the artwork and in that long song-and-dance distraction in the Frogg. Today, things are probably going to look a lot clearer, people are going to start formulating guesses and some people are going to guess right.

In the past, I’ve urged readers and commenters not to post their guesses, but that was like urging a hurricane not to blow wet air around. It’s what hurricanes do, and commenting is what engaged readers do. Plus I always enjoyed a lot of the incorrect guesses, which often featured more thought and insight than my own writing, but you can’t very well ask people to only post the wrong answers. So post away. I just won’t tell anyone if they’re right or wrong. It will all be revealed soon enough. Quite possibly less cleverly than somebody’s supposedly wrong guess.

I don’t have a clue to add.

“The Habit of Rivers” by Ted Leeson? “The Longest Silence” by Thomas McGuane? My best bet? “Trout Bum” by John Gierach. Makes one want to just fish all day, every day.

What a hoot! I just finished a skeleton outfit for my granddaugher very much like Ms Plainwell’s and did a punk rockhopper penguin costume for my grandson a few years ago.
