As a grandfather, I’m so much like Earl that it’s scary. I do say things like this to my grandchildren.

A mustache can be a very transient thing. Here one moment and gone the next.

Shaved off my mustache once my kids didn’t recognize me when they were babies

I don’t have a picture of my adult self without a mustache. In 55 years, I’ve only shaved it off twice ! Once when I went in the Army, and once in 1996 when I lost a bet.

I sent a picture of my clean shaven self to my mother, who’d had always tried to get me to shave it off. Her reaction ? … " Grow it back ! "

My ex has sported a beard for many years. One day he appeared in the kitchen for breakfast after shaving the whole thing off. Our youngest, then four, stood up on her chair and hollered, “Ooh, Daddy! You’re ugly!” He’s had a beard ever since.

Only one thing is true: They are all pictures of him when he was younger.

I shave my ‘stache off, and people Told me how ’weird’ I looked. Not exactly a compliment. So it’s back on to stay.

I have a couple of pictures of my dad when he was in the Navy during WWII – no mustache. He looked odd! I’d never known him to not have a ’stache.

What a coincidence, the same is true of me! Who’da thunk it? ;o}

What about the beard?

OK, a question for you good folks of the male persuasion: How long does a mustache &/or beard have to be before it’s officially no longer just an “unshaven” look? Corollary to that: what’s this currently popular four-day-growth-of facial hair called in polite society? TIA

I had one for awhile but cut it off being I don’t like hair on my face. So I must shave twice a day to keep clean.

Then there’s the time he had half a mustache, and he HOPES there are no photos.
