And so began the Battle of the Unpaid Bill…

I finally realized why the possum looks so unusual. possums are supposed to have lighter fur on the face. King Features has a different colorizer on this strip, and they made the same mistake.

I have had that happen and the other dinners were not Goats or Possums. I still got stuck with the check.

When the Army decided that the Shoshone and Arapahoe – traditional enemies – should share the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming, they kicked it off with a peace banquet. At the head table were various Army officers, the Shoshone chief Washakie, the Arapahoe chief Sharp Nose, and a large bottle of Tabasco sauce. A lieutenant decided to have some fun, pretended to drink from the Tabasco bottle, and handed it to Washakie. Washakie took a swig and, not unexpectedly, tears came to his eyes. The sharp eyes of Sharp Nose noticed this, and he mockingly asked, “Why does the great Washakie weep?” Thinking fast, Washakie replied, “At times I am reminded of my brother who was killed by Blackfeet, and I weep in memory of him.” And handed the bottle to Sharp Nose…

who didn’t see that coming?

Exactly how much did they eat at the restaurant? That check must have been very large.
