Ooh, poor Toddler looks so scared! Don’t be afraid, Toddler, if it’s bad enough to get Elvis to spring to your defense immediately, it’ll be taken care of quickly. There’s nothing to worry about! For you, at least. That bedmonster isn’t gonna know what hit it!
While Maxie was combing the back yards and ally ways of the city, Megan and Tre-C had come to the block where the tow yard was located. Megan could tell the dogs on the lot were aware of their presence by their barked cadence; “CAT! CAT! CAT! Cat-cat-cat-cat-cat, cat-cat-cat-cat-cat… ” “Let’s move around downwind.” Megan and Tre-C carefully maneuvered themselves to a vantage point with perfect views and no real exposure. “There, Kitten, see the dog house?” “Yes. Is that plaque by the opening really his name??” “It is- ‘Chopper’. I sincerely hope that’s not the Alpha… it would be a challenge reasoning with a dog carrying a handle like that. I know there is at least one other dog on the property- I can hear footfalls even when they’re out of sight.” “So what now, Meg?” “We wait, Kitten. We wait for Maxie, and whatever information the city cats gave him. And our course of action will be based on that intel.”
Toddler, you have no worries when Elvis is near or far. He outraced the June bug for the baby. He climbed the dumbwaiter for Puck. I could go on but I don’t want to spoiler anything.
No fear, kiddo, Elvis is ready to take that monster on single-handed.Back IRL, I need to procure a baseball bat, so that when my twins are old enough to start worrying about monsters under their beds, I’ll have a weapon to wave threateningly at the monsters. :P ;)
. . . this was posted, yesterday, when the subject was hair coloring. :) 1. https://www.facebook.com/GeorgiaDunnStudio/photos/pcb.2169923053053103/2169922956386446/?type=3&theater2. https://www.facebook.com/GeorgiaDunnStudio/photos/pcb.2169923053053103/2169922453053163/?type=3&theater3. https://www.facebook.com/GeorgiaDunnStudio/photos/pcb.2169923053053103/2169922616386480/?type=3&theater4. https://www.facebook.com/GeorgiaDunnStudio/photos/pcb.2169923053053103/2169922736386468/?type=3&theater
My older brother devised a string with a loop in it, and a bag with a handle sitting under the light switch.
String goes through the handle, and up to the switch. Pull on the string from bed, and you don’t have to get out of bed to turn off the lights.
He said that it was so he could read in bed before turning out the light, and not have to put his feet on the cold floor when he was ready to turn them off.
Good morning and Happy Monday/Funday, orbsters and orbabies! Fear not, toddler, Puck is there to console you while Elvis and Lupin will confront the monster under the bed and make him an offer he can’t refuse so he will leave you alone. Elvis, after all, cannot have a monster in the vicinity of his baby girl!
On the home front, I found out today that I will need hearing aids. Hopefully I will have them before the wedding in January so I can hear people, and that they help the dizzy spells. I also need to ask our family doctor to refer me to a neurologist. I really, really hope I don’t get referred to the same one Paul sees, he has all the empathy of a Borg.
Last week, while traveling from Houston, Texas to Prescott, Arizona with 3 U-Hauls, 4 cats, and a dog, my husband suffered a mental break and we lost him between Ozona and Ft. Stockton, Texas. Police found him alive almost 30 hours later, and we got him back to home where he is currently in hospital. Although we found the U-Haul about 10 miles from where the police found him, we did not find our dog, whom he says he set “free”. In my heart, I believe she went to someone who needs her love more than we do, but it is still a heart-breaking loss.
I am overwhelmed by all that still needs to be done and fear for my husband’s future safety. Yes, I know he needs to be medicated. No, he had not been medicated because he refused to take the meds. Yes, I tried to get him to take meds. Yes, we are trying something different this time (monthly injections instead of daily oral medication) and he is getting the help he needs to get stabilized. Yes, I wish I could go back in time and do things differently. Yes, I have been judging myself 12 ways to Sunday for not realizing what was happening sooner. All I can say is that my husband is very good at hiding his illness and saying the right things, even with me.
As bad as things are, they could have been so much worse this past week, and though we have a long road ahead, at least he’s alive to get the help me needs, and we have another chance.
…it was a bad dream. Everybody knows that the cats and dogs are always the first to know when there is something bad/evil in the house (monsters, ghosts, demons, in-laws)…if they haven’t seen one, then there’s nothing wrong except a bad dream…
Cats and dogs are awesome protectors against nasty things disguised as monsters. I’ve even hears stories of kids who were plagued by bad ghosts and even worse things. Their cat come back as a spirit to protect them. Loyal even beyond death.
In our house, there’s only one bed things can be under (all the others are platform beds with drawers underneath), and the only “monster” there is Charlie Brown…it’s his little nest when he’s stressed, being near my flip-flops and slippers calms him down (yeah, he has issues).
Notice how much interviewing is going on and no under the bed monster chasing is happening. Elvis talks a good game then keeps talking and talking. Puck is interviewing and comforting and Elvis is well Elvis.
Hello all. Fluff and Tootie are very happily settled into their new home. Cute little collars. Fluff has a little bow tie and Tootie has a little flower. Photos of them lounging on Lataryn’s lap with no restraint shows how fickle the little goobers are. I mean really, what about Lisa and me? Not even a tinge of regret? Meh.
Elvis and Lupin continue to grow, but it seems to be very slow. 8 months old and they OWN the castle. They get along with everyone, even Nina. They have even gotten chubby old Shadow up and running a few times. FLASH. Shadow, (Dodsworth) actually caught a mouse the other day. All by herself, not even an assist from the others. Having kittens around is a good influence. Of course, when I intervened she dropped it and it scurried under the sofa. She was appalled, especially when she realized she was too fat to give chase. Ohhhh, such a look she gave me!
Bandit is Bandit. She is getting along without her siblings just fine. Between quality mom time and giant human visits she has a good thing going. I mean, get real. Kittens have only 1 brain cell per week of age. Which means 8 brain cells that are still learning to talk to each other. Kind of like a valley girl.
Trixie is a mix of small and large triumphs. She still hides behind the toilet much of the time, but is venturing out more often and longer. She still hisses when I pick her up but no longer fights or struggles. I still use the towel cocoon method to avoid possible injury (me, not her). Drape a medium towel over her and fold it under her, head covered. Pick her up move over and sit down with the cocoon in my lap.
Pull back the flap to expose her head. Lots of scritchies and a slow reveal as I peel back the towel. Brush and pet, pull back, brush and pet. She sits quietly and once in a while we get a little grunt. Sooner or later she’ll tense and bolt, but now she only does beyond arm’s length instead of behind the toilet.
And this morning we were able to clip her nails. I kid you not. I cocooned her and sat down. Head and one paw out. I reached in a clipped those nails. She never flinched, didn’t pull back in the slightest and didn’t make a sound. AMAZING! Scritchies and soft praise, settle for a bit and then, free up the other paw. Snip snip snip snip snip and done. No fuss no muss.
She is a paradox. When restrained she not only tolerates brushing and petting, she very obviously enjoys it. We get blinkies sometimes, an occasional grunt and half closed lids. And then ZOOM, she’s off like a flash with a glare thrown over her shoulder.
Happy news on the GoFundMe page Help Save Newton from Rachel. He is doing well and there is a new photo. Be sure to check it out….looks like they are heading to a good ending to his unfortunate misadventure.
