If only av’s rant were directed to the mystery that is being perpetrated as a cover for allowing the criminals in the story to get up a good head of steam on their scheme before the train hits the station.
Instead of a Minit Mystery why not just do two weeks of commercials? Dick Tracy is brought to you by XYZ pencils and ABC ink pens. The Minit Mysteries are a distraction.
I’m actually looking forward to the Minit Mystery – not because of the mystery itself, but for some of the fun they’ve had with it.
The first mystery was definitely intended to be non-canon (set around the 1930’s) and used as a character the villain from an old ad (Piston Puss) with Tracy as the hero.
The second mystery addresses a real-life unsolved mystery (the death of George Reeves) while using a few stand-ins for actor from the 1950’s Superman TV show.
The third and final mystery to date gave Team Tracy an opportunity to draw a “meeting” of Tracy’s rogues – past and present – via cosplay.
I think someone else says that the mystery is not important – and I would agree with that. But for me, it has been fun :)
I hope we can hang onto the thread of the Splitface story for the two weeks it is going to take Tracy and Sam to drive to Zelda’s dive-place to warn her! Traffic must be really bad in Tracyville over the holidays….
Meanwhile, let’s see what’s on the car radio. Ahh, Minit Mysteries….

Who was it that bemoaned the advent of a fresh “Minit Mystery?” ✨

“Hey Sam, Zelda is in grave danger and can be slaughtered at any moment. How should we contact her?”
“Do you think we should call her?”
“Nah, think of something else!”
“Maybe we can text her?”
“Nope!”
“I know! I know! Let’s radio for a patrol car that’s near her to tell her in person!”
“No No No! The only logical thing is for us to drive through traffic across town and tell her ourselves!”
“Gee Tracy, you’re a genius! Why didn’t I think of that?”
“Because Sam, you’re the MCU’s lovable doofus!”
“Thanks Tracy, you’re the best!”
“Pull over here Sam, let’s get Taco Bell for lunch, your treat. Zelda can wait!”
“Yummy! I can eat bean burritos for two weeks straight!”

She couldn’t be reached by phone so we are investigating in hopes nothing is wrong.

Now, watch some idiot with thick lips try to run his head into a safe or a brick wall in order to become the new Flattop…

No! No! Say it ain’t so!
Think I’ll return 07-Jan-19. I don’t think I can handle another Minit Mystery!

When was the last time Lizz was prominently featured in a story?

You can’t get enough of Liz – if she were the lead investigator in the Minit Mystery, many of the frustrated faithful would not abandon ship…

Oh sweet Jesus… just as the story begins to build up some momentum it gets derailed… FOR TWO FRIGGIN’ WEEKS!!!!
Just kill me now and get it over with.
THIS is why the strip suffers the majority of the time

Well, at least that gives me two weeks with about a half-minute added to my life each day.

Okay. See you in two weeks, Dick Tracy, and Joe and Mike.

Finally Joe & Mike were back at the top of their game with this new Splitface story and it comes to a screeching halt with another “Minit Mystery”.

I thought that the Vitamin, Kandykane, and Vera Aldid arc was the “Minit Mystery”… It seemed to last that long…
DaleMcNamee about 6 years ago
Maybe Vera Aldid will produce a “J. Straightedge Trustworthy Minit Mystery” or an “Invisible Tribe” one…

From all the “likes” Ray Toler has spread around the not-so-nice Minit Mystery comments, I’m guessing that he may care for them less than I do!
Cheapskate0 about 6 years ago
I think the primary problem with Minit Mystery is, it seems to have become little more than a vacation for Mike and Joe!
