On several occasions Tiffany tried to help Gunther get a Gal. Each time her help failed miserably. That Last time it was with Bernice, and almost everybody knows how that went.

Now Luann is helping. How much you wanna bet that with Luann’s help, Gunther will succeed beyond any and all expectations? I’ve been hoping for Gunther to get a close Female Friend. Looks like he got one. The Best one He’ll ever have until he meets his Soul Mate. One Luann DeGroot! Gunther’s Best Friend!

Gunther’s look of absolute terror in that picture Luann took will make him look charmingly human. For who amongst us is not terrified?

Hilarity will ensue I would think. Possibly a blast from the past, Rosa,might suddenly show up? Probably not, perhaps a competition between bad boy Les, and good boy Gunther who will be able to get beyond a first date? Something else? It’s only Wednesday of a second week of this arc.

Luann seems to know that Gunther needs to be thrown into the pool to learn how to swim. Truly a good friend.

Maybe the coupon sales lady will respond to Gunther’s post. Not sure how that would go – but it might be a great piece of luck for the G.

Well, looks like the real Gunther came back to spoil his own chances again.

It is clear that Gunther does NOT want to get involved with any girls. He is asexual or scared of them or something else. Please do not inflict him on any women until he gets help for his issues, whatever they are.

Go for it Gunther! Set up some lunch dates. What is the harm?

I do hope that this is leading up to some resolution of Gunther’s issues with women. “Gunther One-Joke” has been old for years.

It doesn’t matter what color Gunther’s eyes are. Any woman who would not be repelled by that shirt is colorblind.

Here’s the thing, really over and over, Gunther has been his own worst enemy… the second he gets out of the “zone” he starts getting insecure, which often comes out as aggressive at times (example how he lost the high ground in with the Tiffany “dinner date”) had he simply ignored Les and just hosted the meal with Tiffany, largely ignoring time constraints etc, he would probably already be dating her.

Likewise I’m sure he’d probably have gotten further with Luann or Bernie if he kept his calm and didn’t go into “poor me” moments or temper flare ups and get angry because girls don’t see how “nice” he is.

It’s an age thing, right now he feels more grown up than ever because he’s out of high school (and living more independently from his mother than he ever has before) but he’s been feed an identity that says “success is what you do (job) and who your with (love life)” (typical guy culture)

I ramble but this is close to home, of most the characters G-man is probably closer to my childhood than any other (if he played more D&D lol). He’s not likely to get any closer to finding that special girl on a website, though he might get some experiences under his belt to learn from. Ideally he’ll meet someone similar to him in his hobbies or at college and get a more meaningful connection that way.

Speaking of which, we need to see more of that… I haven’t heard anything of his classes or degree since he helped Luann with a dress for “Engineering”

Based on my experience on these online dating sites, I’d say that things are not going to end well for Gunther. Catfish, people wanting you to “verify” your legitimacy through a credit card, Nigerian princes, and the crazies you wouldn’t have considered otherwise.

Some manage to find love, and that’s great, but my experience says the odds are not so good.

This may be a brilliant move by G&K. The episode of laughing at Les’ Date-Pic profile was pretty lame but they have saved the episode and segued into a whole new Gunther arc with this strip. This could go anywhere and probably will. First and foremost (IMHO) will this be three for three with Luann as making a positive influence on a G&K character, as she did with Jack and Fay? Will this be the image boost Gunther needs to cut the apron strings?

Possible direction(s) from here: Gunther’s surprise at how many respond and/or who responds. Will Gunther answer a date request? Who will he date? How many will he date? How does Les react to Gunther’s profile/number of responses/number of dates?

Will the number of responses he gets change existing female characters opinions as to being a “hot prospect.” (Tiff? Bernice? Tara?… Pru?? Toni??? Nancy????) ;o)

Let the games begin! Or as Luann1212 is wont to say “Let the hilarity ensue!”

Maybe Gunther should get his own place first: every woman he brings over is going to get hit on by Les, which will send him into a fit, which will be the end of it

The first and last time Gunther got hooked up was trimming his rose bushes.

Even though it would, IMO, be FAR better if Gunther would take some initiative of his own here to create his profile at this dating site… I am glad Luann is guiding/goading/proding/forcing (whichever term you prefer) into doing this.

My reason for wanting Gunther to have significantly more active a role here is that I worry that he still desperately needs to work through in his mind how he has to become more active in his efforts towards finding a female companion. He wants to have a girlfriend… but he has been mostly to this point paralyzed with inaction. Hell, Rosa basically asked him out and guided pretty much the limited relationship he had with her.

I do not know how editable these sites are (I presume they are readily editable)…. but I hope that as Gunther eventually does think about and decide more how he himself wants to be as an adult college student, he can modify this first effort on the site to more of what he aspires to.

Based on Gunther’s expression as Luann took that picture, his profile should include something about being frightened and needing a big, strong woman to stand up for him.

If Gunther’s all that hot, why don’t you go out with him Luann? Wait, I think I answered my own question.

GO LUANN!!!! Gunther’s problems will not disappear magically. But at least there is some hope that his life will be better.

i’m predicting he’ll get a bite on the profile before the end of this week, maybe two minutes after it is posted.

Not the direction that I expected, but it never is. This is the land of Luann.calm. I remember once, in the old days, Miss Phelps unleashed a volatile attack of passion on Mr. Fogarty, but peace has returned once again to Happy Valley.

Let’s see – when Gunter invites you over for a carefully prepared elaborate dinner and then immediately goes ballistic and proceeds to berate you on account of your wanting to spend some time with a guy whom he considers to be evil, which one is that, “sweet” or “fun”?

Gunther could hide in front of Luann’s car and be practically invisible! Urban camouflage!

Blind dates are always a roll of the dice. Luckily he has friends that can help him afterwards. Gunther may drive Lunann crazy if they actually tried to date each other. Although, a few non-Date dates together maybe fun and who knows, they may find each other in the future.

What a hoot if Luann’s profile of Gunny draws a hundred or more eager responses on that dating site! The possibilities boggle the mind!

Pretty sure she just took a picture about 6 inches from your face. I bet she can find out what your eye color is. Also is eye color really something they ask on dating sites?

Gunther will find his ideal girl in a group therapy environment, and she will be smarter than him. The couple best suited for each other is Crystal and Knute.
