It’s an amusing strip, but I find it even funnier that people bothered to work the numbers. I don’t need two decimal places to know that obvious is obvious.
From another point of view in rough numbers, $3000/$13.50 > 222 units per week, 222*24 = 5333 hangers per week, 5333/168 (hours per week) = 31.7 hangers per hour, with no sleep, breaks, meals, etc….
The Trick with that sort of offer was that they only Paid for the ones that were “Satisfactory”. The “Inspector” always found something that Wasn’t Quite Right with almost every single one.
Ads looking for people willing to do that sort of “piece Work” used to be in the back of almost every Magazine on the market.

that’s 6.75 a day for Zonker.

20 hours per week yields 60 hangers. Divide by 24= 2.5 units. X 13.50 = $33.75/week. Oh, Walden, better give his parents their money back.

I am sure everyone wonders why you bothered with college.

Walden’s math teacher is now contemplating murder. Let’s see. 3 an hour means 24 done in 8 hours, so 13.25 per day.

“Why I bothered with college”, indeed! Amway was ALWAYS there & this was pre-Betsy deVos.

Whatever school he went to, math was not his strong suit. I estimate, knowing Zonk, he’d be lucky to clear $150 a week.

Could it be that he thinks he’s getting that much per hanger?

Zonk, I will agree with you. That is an incredible amount. That’s in-credible, as in not credible, as in WRONG!

Like my physics and math teachers would say: Yes, the location of the decimal point really does matter!
