Spring is here and it’s time for the annual Weber 500. Ladies and gentlemen light your grills.

Thanks, Jimmy! I just set an alarm on my phone for 16:58, because She hates winter – and now I can tell her when it’s spring!

Victor Buono’s Ode to Spring:.The day was dark and grimy/The dawn came in a hearse/And yesterday was slimy/And tomorrow will be worse..The laws are cataleptic/Our gods live in garages/Society’s gone septic/And the muses give massages..Our powder’s getting wetter/Yet, optimists recite/“This life could not be better”/(and I fear the bums are right.)

The equinox occurs at the same moment around the world. It is not like New Year’s. The center of the sun is directly above the equator. It will be “noon” at the exact location, ignoring for a moment that “noon” is tied to time zone definitions, so imagine that there were no time zone definitions and “noon” was a continuously moving longitude. The exact location this year will be out in the Pacific Ocean, somewhere between Ecuador and Jarvis Island.

All I can say is that ’SPRING FORWARD" — “FALL BACK” Sucks. One or the other, year around, would be fine for me.

Am I the only one who remembers when Jimmy Carter extended DST? The sun didn’t rise until after 8:30! We were pelted with news reports about children waiting for school buses in the pitch dark. Widely agreed to be a bad idea, even by those in the eastern edge of their respective time zones, who generally favor DST.
