It seems our society has forgotten that hats are to be taken off indoors. My grandfather would knock mine off my head if he caught me wearing a cap in the house.
This cartoon reminds me of that great story wherein Ted Turner and “Traitor Jane” Fonda entered a restaurant in Colorado I think and the owner refused service to them !
A story. Many years ago the Houston Oilers ( yeah that long) came to our quaint town in West Texas for training camp. A local restaurant was serving to four rookie players. They were wearing the finest Stetson hats and new hand made boots while they ate. In walked Bum Phillips observing his boys sitting at the dinner table…..inside…..with their hats on eating loudly. Now Bum didn’t yell as he was a gentleman. So he walked over asking to see their new cowboy hats. He took the first one…….dropped it to the floor……crushing it under the heel of his custom boots. He did each one as they sat looking like caught misbehaving children. He then had them apologize for being rude wearing their hats inside and at the dinner table. After they were done he told them to be at the field once he finished his meal. We all followed as they went over to the nearby practice field wearing crushed hats. Bum had them run 40 yard wind sprints in those new boots and wearing the hat. After near exhaustion he let them go…….a gentleman never wears his hat inside and never at the dinner table.

Well, he’s a tad too tall to be the King of Id. Maybe Prince Charles getting a bit ahead of himself?
