Did Luann learn ANYthing at college that NOT involved sleep?

After the campout, she probably needs a bit more sleep.

She’s sleeping and not out getting into trouble. It’s LUANN after all. Count your blessings.

Education sans proper application is a waste.

Lazy people will look for things to justify their laziness. Today’s strip is very true to life.

Puddles is in complete agreement with Luann.

Frame four: A little kid with a grown up body. It’s time for that package to get shipped to the real world. Some guy is likely to continue to spoil Luann however.

Just be sure to find that 20% boost in productivity after your 10% nap, Luann.

I’m sorry! But Luann is VERY Cute when she’s sleeping barefoot! Someone get a feather and tickle those cute little toes until she wakes up SCREAMING, while posting a pics of the event on Instagram!

Well Luann certainly has rationalization of procrastination down. She likes to sleep because it’s the only place she gets to enjoy her dream boy.

Luann is very good at learning and profitably using her new knowledge. I’m pretty sure his grades are higher than average. In the last panel she’s a great Sleeping Beauty. And the puddles that sleep with her is so cute ♡♡♡♡!

Her right arm is gonna fall asleep, big-time!

And they were so worried about her just last week. :o)

I remember at that age, especially on occasional weekends, you just felt an unexplainable exhaustion and had to sleep all day and you could do nothing about it

So she talked about what happens when you get an insufficient amount of sleep…but what happens when you get an “over”-sufficient amount of sleep?

Insufficient sleep can only cause a pseudo-ptosis! I’ve never heard of it causing nystagmus!

Since when is taking a nap a crime? I’ve seen strips where both mom and dad took naps. It can be a very healthy thing. Honestly, if you’re sleepy, and you are in an appropriate location, TAKE a nap. The world won’t end.

Taking naps is a good idea for young adults, and old adults, and it does not hurt the rest of us either. I think maybe if there was more napping there would be less trolls out there. Nap away Luann.

Humans need 7-9 hours of sleep EVERY day. Lack of sleep leads to many different problems. Dumb people think not getting enough sleep is a virtue.

The dog is so cute snuggled up on top of Luann. That is true love.

I remember when I could sleep any place, any time. Those were the good old days.

They’re suburban parents who make good money from the Fuze (I assume, since they don’t even have to go there, or have they retired young?). These people lead privileged lives. They even own two houses. College students have been saddled with insurmountable debt this century from student loans. But Frank is such a bitter miser that he resents having to pay for his kid’s community college education. I guess he just doesn’t like her. (If someone feels as he does I guess they don’t like young people at all and think menial jobs are all they deserve.)

Cheer up, Frank and Nancy! At least she’s not out having the sex, right? She may be a lazy lump, but that just means she’s staying out of trouble.

Why can’t Luann take a nap without having to make excuses for it and without having to listen to her parents make “comments” about it. I’m sure both her parents take naps any time they feel like it.

Sleep deprivation has impacts on students that they may not recognize. There is an association with slowed reaction time, impaired immune function, increased risk of infection, and compromised memory, and learning. Pulling an all-nighter may mean the student’s performance may never catch up from that episode of sleep loss. Students who nap more have higher GPAs and a nap of 6 minutes improved memorization of a list of vocabulary words by 11%. To her parents, sleep is a luxury, not a necessity. Would they still consider sleep a luxury if they knew the association between sleep and academic performance?

Give Luann a break. Let her have a nap in peace without critical comments and without her having to justify what she needs.

Some very important people are known for taking naps, like Dagwood Bumstead, Beetle Baily, Andy Capp, Rip vanWinkle, and of course, Chief Justice Ginsberg.

I’m glad to learn that Luann is taking basic liberal arts and science courses including history and economics.

Whenever we see Luann sleeping Puddles is sleeping with her. The two are interlinked!

There’s wisdom in both perspectives, actually. It’s a question of balance.

Luann is taking care of herself and doing what she needs to do to be efficient. “Laziness” is the first step towards efficiency. Progress doesn’t come from early risers. It’s made by “lazy” people trying to find easier ways to do things. So called “laziness” is a sign of intelligence. Deep thinkers appear to be “lazy” to their less intelligent cohorts. Getting enough sleep results in more productivity. Have you heard the story of the woodsman wearing himself out trying to cut as many trees as he could, but cutting fewer and fewer every day. Someone asked him when the last time he sharpened his axe was. Abraham Lincoln said, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” Luann is sharpening her axe.

Why on earth would her parents begrudge her a nap if she needs it? Why would ANYONE begrudge ANYONE a nap if they need it? Why are they making condescending remarks and trying to make their daughter feel guilty about something parents do lovingly for their children? If Frank doesn’t want to pay for her college or let her stay at the house, he should tell her to move out. If I were Luann, I would much rather move out than listen to all those snide remarks, and I wish she would. She’d do fine.

Frank is a tightwad. I wonder who paid for his education while he was out being a hippy. Neither Frank nor Nancy seem particularly industrious to me. Why are they on such a high horse when it comes to their only daughter taking care of herself when she is tired?

As for her messy room, it can be compared to the messy desks of others. A Messy Desk Is a Sign of Genius, According to Science. Mark Twain, Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, and Steve Jobs had messy desks, just like most other geniuses.

Nancy and Frank are trying to take away Luann’s creativity, genius and vital force.

She’s got a good point, though. She’s working and learning. Let her get the Zzzz’s she needs to be successful.
