Weâre looking to replace our 17 year old white stove. White is now a âpremiumâ color. And they no longer make ranges with drip trays under the burners. :-(
Glass stove tops require daily cleaning if you want to keep them nice looking. It doesnât take long for them to look bad if you donât polish them properly and use non-scratching pots.
About 15 seconds every morning using a product called âInvisible Glassâ on the smudged areas. Discovered this by accident. All stainless appliances still look brand new.
Donât replace an old, but still serviceable item. We had a dining room table Hubby bought second-hand in 1974 for $100. It was a workhorse! I could pin patterns, work on dollhouses, work jigsaw puzzles, etc. We also ate on it. It looked a mess, but throw a tablecloth over it and nobody knew. Somebody had a solid cherry Queen Anne set on the local Swap List for $150, so we bought it. The new table is lovely, but itâs not good for anything but eating.
I have the same feeling about the Keurig coffee maker. But canât switch back to the drip kind âcause thereâs a small fortune of âKupsâ in the pantry. What a waste of money!
My ânewâ stove is brushed nickel, very easy to clean. However, I bought it for the burner arrangement and because the top has a raised edge that is over 1 cm high, so boil-overs canât drip onto the floor.
I have lived through ALL the colors of large appliances: White, Pink, Turquoise, Brown, Coppertone, Harvest Gold, Avocado Green, Almond, Black, and five shades of Stainless Steel. And I donât EVEN want to talk about shag carpeting.
Had the harvest gold stove and fridge back in the 80âs. Fridge had 3 doors. Freezer on one side and ice maker on the top. Stove had the knobs on top along side of burners. Thought that was the coolest. AhâŠmemories.
Please donât move back to white for everything, and donât give anyone else the isea that itâs a good idea. I want to build a house, and I am finding everything I need on Craigâslist in white practically free, because the owners are putting in stainless steel. Looks like a chemistry lab, not a home where people actually eat and talk and love each other. But, I will be the first to tell them how great their new steel lab looks, since I want the pretty ones.
To each their own, but I never did see the huge appeal of stainless steel appliances. We have just kept on buying white appliances. But apparently if you try to sell a house with kitchen appliances that arenât stainless, people turn up their noses or expect a price break.

Use paste wax on stainless steel appliances. Put a coat on, let it dry and buff it. No fingerprints!

We eat out most of the time. That means we rarely have to worry about smudged appliances.

Good ole fashioned WD40 works too. Spray on a cloth and wipe away fingerprints.

Kitchen appliances should be white enamel, the way nature intended.

My wife hates the stainless steel stuff, but itâs getting more difficult to get a white option in the appliance you want.
