As a retiree, I am available to attend board meetings for large corporations that will pay me more than I ever made as a small business owner. I promise never to ask embarrassing question, always to vote as the CEO wants, and I will try not to fall asleep during the meetings.
As a member of an all-volunteer non-profit, I recognize this scene from long personal experience (though I did drop off the board last year after a dozen years in the barrel).

Perhaps a school board or some other municipal board? Regardless, there’s a tendency for leaning heavily toward some political extreme.
