This feels like a weird coincidence. I just had this test done yesterday. They called it “testing the pressure in your eyes” — I had no idea it was for glaucoma.

Luckily for me, the walls were made of concrete so I just bounced off.

If he didn’t have glaucoma before, he does now.

The first time, I kept blinking too fast for the machine and they couldn’t get a reading.

    Here’s how it works:

Yes, I have glaucoma. My ophthalmologist uses the “tiny device” not the puff of air. Treatment with eye drops didn’t help, so I had to have a trabeculectomy on both eyes. NOT lots of fun. Here’s what they do:

I have a visual field test next week using the “static automated perimetry” method, also not fun. It’s described here:

I have glaucoma and for many years had my “brief exam” air puff every three months (and sometimes the blue cup as well). Now I hear the air puff thing is notoriously inaccurate.

The first time this test was administered to me, I mis-heard “mug of beer test”. When I mentioned this to the Dr., he was all for it!

The greatest danger isn’t from the puff of air. It’s from you hurting yourself due to the puff of air. “Geeminy crickets son of a waffle… I just threw out my back…”

That’s why test dummies are useful… even if they DO put human test subjects out of a job.

Fortunately, that wasn’t the hull of the ship. Then there would have been a REAL puff of air.

I had a trainee administer the air puff, and she had to do it several times. I didn’t feel it at the time, but for several days afterward, my eyes were painfully sore.

Sadly, Dr Mel refuses to write the Medical MJ prescription if you do turn out to have Glaucoma.

He just likes giving people the Test.
